fbdev changes for 3.14
This is a rather boring pull request. There is one new fb driver, OpenCores VGA/LCD, but other than that it's just minor cleanups and fixes. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.14 (GNU/Linux) iQIcBAABAgAGBQJS4kg5AAoJEPo9qoy8lh71ng0P/jmi0rDF5+0D+L3EjE1tLN9M +0DhoUdkSXweSRLk0TxF4vkHmlStykTEbBkdKGqFa6yKvq+V7wFtgv2lchraZmJv TsTiZ60J6JnA0xbHurt+GntWRgzIGWIHF9QBk/hxn1QB3oIscR2I6K9z+YVKStXH ywyBOmvfyghDkPG8taqXuDCtWFKYMwuoUP+YfqvVT1Ey4J+pEJ8EpBM9nvLJmvuW ZrARDqkntoQZOzfW52HVis0hzrQLi8bJQp5BEu+yd2Q3sSOXV7kV8HOCkhiGwHCE zEtPM5KavmHRECoZtCtNTRvf+e0byKibuAnKSvnuwdfxRurvh4T3I7YUf3VsnIoL +obxad3737zvIY0yDx3PIU/dbCtv63sy+6Gl/E7HAn9Q0t1fGml1Y0XC8Ohy6rR5 b9WmSGcF0nxPBxHeyjJLXJMxiv8iclvBLhZc5CUeKYB+teLEGorRpMsuElPmizOh elMus/f6NHxbaJoS6FJPTMm3QfdjqG3SLGAOpNkZgFtCsNGaqyexVQViEV/PgEJI Qe67KeuUGdJhvko7ct19u1d/ZHs19LXnUmtLsD/xbs6YcUCQZ106B9ZP+YRc+ie0 9QDcfI+WEc82xL18L3bge+xYc45jdPhCOn6zwAKIYqNq5ITkjdt0jHLv5dtfPkbI Hv/P2Peuc6u3KSDFyrwe =RmAl -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'fbdev-3.14' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tomba/linux Pull fbdev changes from Tomi Valkeinen: "This is a rather boring pull request. Merge branch 'next' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/rzhang/linux
Pull thermal management updates from Zhang Rui: "This time, the biggest change is the work of representing hardware thermal properties in device tree infrastructure. This work includes the introduction of a device tree bindings for describing the hardware thermal behavior and limits, and also a parser to read and interpret the data, and build thermal zones and thermal binding parameters. It also contains three examples on how to use the new representation on sensor devices, using three different drivers to accomplish it. One driver is in thermal subsystem, the TI SoC thermal, and the other two drivers are in hwmon subsystem. Actually, this would be the first step of the complete work because we still need to check other potential drivers to be converted and then validate the proposed API. But the reason why I include it in this pull request is that, first, this change does not hurt any others without using this approach, second, the principle and concept of this change would not break after converting the remaining drivers. BTW, as you can see, there are several points in this change that do not belong to thermal subsystem. Because it has been suggested by Guenter R that in such cases, it is recommended to send the complete series via one single subsystem. Specifics: - representing hardware thermal properties in device tree infrastructure - fix a regression that the imx thermal driver breaks system suspend. - introduce ACPI INT3403 thermal driver to retrieve temperature data from the INT3403 ACPI device object present on some systems. - introduce debug statement for thermal core and step_wise governor. - assorted fixes and cleanups for thermal core, cpu cooling, exynos thrmal, intel powerclamp and imx thermal driver" * 'next' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/rzhang/linux: (34 commits) thermal: remove const flag from .ops of imx thermal Thermal: update thermal zone device after setting emul_temp intel_powerclamp: Fix cstate counter detection. thermal: imx: add necessary clk operation Thermal cpu cooling: return error if no valid cpu frequency entry thermal: fix cpu_cooling max_level behavior thermal: rcar-thermal: Enable driver compilation with COMPILE_TEST thermal: debug: add debug statement for core and step_wise thermal: imx_thermal: add module device table drivers: thermal: Mark function as static in x86_pkg_temp_thermal.c thermal:samsung: fix compilation warning thermal: imx: correct suspend/resume flow thermal: exynos: fix error return code Thermal: ACPI INT3403 thermal driver MAINTAINERS: add thermal bindings entry in thermal domain arm: dts: make OMAP4460 bandgap node to belong to OCP arm: dts: make OMAP443x bandgap node to belong to OCP arm: dts: add cooling properties on omap5 cpu node arm: dts: add omap5 thermal data arm: dts: add omap5 CORE thermal data ... |

ACPI and power management updates for 3.14-rc1
- ACPI core changes to make it create a struct acpi_device object for every device represented in the ACPI tables during all namespace scans regardless of the current status of that device. In accordance with this, ACPI hotplug operations will not delete those objects, unless the underlying ACPI tables go away. - On top of the above, new sysfs attribute for ACPI device objects allowing user space to check device status by triggering the execution of _STA for its ACPI object. From Srinivas Pandruvada. - ACPI core hotplug changes reducing code duplication, integrating the PCI root hotplug with the core and reworking container hotplug. - ACPI core simplifications making it use ACPI_COMPANION() in the code "glueing" ACPI device objects to "physical" devices. - ACPICA update to upstream version 20131218. This adds support for the DBG2 and PCCT tables to ACPICA, fixes some bugs and improves debug facilities. From Bob Moore, Lv Zheng and Betty Dall. - Init code change to carry out the early ACPI initialization earlier. That should allow us to use ACPI during the timekeeping initialization and possibly to simplify the EFI initialization too. From Chun-Yi Lee. - Clenups of the inclusions of ACPI headers in many places all over from Lv Zheng and Rashika Kheria (work in progress). - New helper for ACPI _DSM execution and rework of the code in drivers that uses _DSM to execute it via the new helper. From Jiang Liu. - New Win8 OSI blacklist entries from Takashi Iwai. - Assorted ACPI fixes and cleanups from Al Stone, Emil Goode, Hanjun Guo, Lan Tianyu, Masanari Iida, Oliver Neukum, Prarit Bhargava, Rashika Kheria, Tang Chen, Zhang Rui. - intel_pstate driver updates, including proper Baytrail support, from Dirk Brandewie and intel_pstate documentation from Ramkumar Ramachandra. - Generic CPU boost ("turbo") support for cpufreq from Lukasz Majewski. - powernow-k6 cpufreq driver fixes from Mikulas Patocka. - cpufreq core fixes and cleanups from Viresh Kumar, Jane Li, Mark Brown. - Assorted cpufreq drivers fixes and cleanups from Anson Huang, John Tobias, Paul Bolle, Paul Walmsley, Sachin Kamat, Shawn Guo, Viresh Kumar. - cpuidle cleanups from Bartlomiej Zolnierkiewicz. - Support for hibernation APM events from Bin Shi. - Hibernation fix to avoid bringing up nonboot CPUs with ACPI EC disabled during thaw transitions from Bjørn Mork. - PM core fixes and cleanups from Ben Dooks, Leonardo Potenza, Ulf Hansson. - PNP subsystem fixes and cleanups from Dmitry Torokhov, Levente Kurusa, Rashika Kheria. - New tool for profiling system suspend from Todd E Brandt and a cpupower tool cleanup from One Thousand Gnomes. / -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.22 (GNU/Linux) iQIcBAABCAAGBQJS3a1eAAoJEILEb/54YlRxnTgP/iGawvgjKWm6Qqp7WSIvd5gQ zZ6q75C6Pc/W2fq1+OzVGnpCF8WYFy+nFDAXOvUHjIXuoxSwFcuW5l4aMckgl/0a TXEWe9MJrCHHRfDApfFacCJ44U02bjJAD5vTyL/hKA+IHeinq4WCSojryYC+8jU0 cBrUIV0aNH8r5JR2WJNAyv/U29rXsDUOu0I4qTqZ4YaZT6AignMjtLXn1e9AH1Pn DPZphTIo/HMnb+kgBOjt4snMk+ahVO9eCOxh/hH8ecnWExw9WynXoU5Nsna0tSZs ssyHC7BYexD3oYsG8D52cFUpp4FCsJ0nFQNa2kw0LY+0FBNay43LySisKYHZPXEs 2WpESDv+/t7yhtnrvM+TtA7aBheKm2XMWGFSu/aERLE17jIidOkXKH5Y7ryYLNf/ uyRKxNS0NcZWZ0G+/wuY02jQYNkfYz3k/nTr8BAUItRBjdporGIRNEnR9gPzgCUC uQhjXWMPulqubr8xbyefPWHTEzU2nvbXwTUWGjrBxSy8zkyy5arfqizUj+VG6afT NsboANoMHa9b+xdzigSFdA3nbVK6xBjtU6Ywntk9TIpODKF5NgfARx0H+oSH+Zrj 32bMzgZtHw/lAbYsnQ9OnTY6AEWQYt6NMuVbTiLXrMHhM3nWwfg/XoN4nZqs6jPo IYvE6WhQZU6L6fptGHFC =dRf6 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'pm+acpi-3.14-rc1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/rafael/linux-pm Pull ACPI and power management updates from Rafael Wysocki: "As far as the number of commits goes, the top spot belongs to ACPI this time with cpufreq in the second position and a handful of PM core, PNP and cpuidle updates. They are fixes and cleanups mostly, as usual, with a couple of new features in the mix. The most visible change is probably that we will create struct acpi_device objects (visible in sysfs) for all devices represented in the ACPI tables regardless of their status and there will be a new sysfs attribute under those objects allowing user space to check that status via _STA. Consequently, ACPI device eject or generally hot-removal will not delete those objects, unless the table containing the corresponding namespace nodes is unloaded, which is extremely rare. Also ACPI container hotplug will be handled quite a bit differently and cpufreq will support CPU boost ("turbo") generically and not only in the acpi-cpufreq driver. Specifics: - ACPI core changes to make it create a struct acpi_device object for every device represented in the ACPI tables during all namespace scans regardless of the current status of that device. The first half of the clk framework pull request is made up almost
entirely of new platform/driver support. There are some conversions of existing drivers to the common-clock Device Tree binding, and a few non-critical fixes to the framework. Due to an entirely unnecessary cyclical dependency with the arm-soc tree this pull request is broken into two pieces. The second piece will be sent out after arm-soc sends you the pull request that merged in core support for the HiSilicon 3620 platform. That same pull request from arm-soc depends on this pull request to merge in those HiSilicon bits without causing build failures. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.14 (GNU/Linux) iQIcBAABAgAGBQJS4WZPAAoJEDqPOy9afJhJVz4QAL63xispjEVuABUjgskR1fyo 7QljpqUJCOViqiVqNi1sPtM0irvfrApNwTpK3mGm20/kbNIBSdqGc/fI5CbWxXAU scRqplTTLY6F7nXJXGgiM/e5b31Tb+KmY9Su5chq1Yv6py4/yb6SzoohcBlQJ5in JKIxgLqe1VqUkCY2EFlqLwYqUtgr/Zm6ZJDt4LTwxc43apwgG7USMAS8ppx7nTgd oGgcsU4dNur1L4+ahvwqC+ntfoZNmVKJm+eY+JrHXJ2sga4PLaJcorgK2NXFpgln nwZQzRfbZLg7vNg/ODIDvP94mhc266xq2TCWzD/kMOBwmhsM0lySpzI/IM8qv1U2 Tdy9EHAj2iHoU+s1yPEUtNRV4h2+BGUUy54690XO30+VCLVEJUCC2KopDAk0G3ua qxSCb1mJto8EEq3jCJwKZSOUI7gcizDjHAaqfLlnDytMlsFJR7AJVj5IcRdgC/9s Vg975Xklkn33fWEuYQzdQdcmJ8ZCnydo92R2S0CaMgxMZqp2eoYZXJWvgCAvfQYC HjAtnBpHxNsZQeASvclb9bQrEisAUjIrxvuzLenQhg88WhBuyUDgBdretCzHFhP4 i62QGAhSYiNJJQzs+U9EndG6fRr/p98Pmw2pBAAn8UYOT2wWMj8wpR+IVT50Bmdi j6LsDpvc7CE2a4f+KoCa =Hh66 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'clk-for-linus-3.14-part1' of git://git.linaro.org/people/mike.turquette/linux Pull clk framework changes from Mike Turquette: "The first half of the clk framework pull request is made up almost entirely of new platform/driver support. ARM: driver updates for 3.14
Updates of SoC-near drivers and other driver updates that makes more sense to take through our tree. The largest part of this is a conversion of device registration for some renesas shmobile/sh devices over to use resources. This has required coordination with the corresponding arch/sh changes, and we've agreed to merge the arch/sh changes through our tree. Added in this branch is support for Trusted Foundations secure firmware, which is what is used on many of the commercial Nvidia Tegra products that are in the market, including the Nvidia Shield. The code is local to arch/arm at this time since it's uncertain whether it will be shared with arm64 longer-term, if needed we will refactor later. A couple of new RTC drivers used on ARM boards, merged through our tree on request by the RTC maintainer. ... plus a bunch of smaller updates across the board, gpio conversions for davinci, etc. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.11 (GNU/Linux) iQIcBAABAgAGBQJS4ViqAAoJEIwa5zzehBx3m4QP/07VXVE77RFRyly5Bky5AaMY zo7ZpoJyg/IT9lxtSAQDhbQq49tKZQVS16oJ7LWXzjAyCY9XrVDX2IkcuqudmYSy Xtx+R0jZGK4czqljgjwdHgNCSwugCmO/kgNY3h8ar53dTmGIFiq5boPeMDizRTGD g3sgYuQbIqepcHd2jUjJSBXNyvZIlwBJ4wDyZgxRfzyM7unS8T46BpYNJz0esAL+ 0DwIk0nv1eJ6LI0aEL+7bgFaitjUNLpcrroToi1IiIEJuTvZY4AuBjAKt5/181zL i1ugimsHahmbwNclAmUimc0rtW4Nn+YHGa8WpYiQ9O7+kPFsYkfLRplHPOjaUBPz r76ucgBMGH6i04tvstwlONznO4NhkACWmb4wrfJfRoDTglELLoOd6QGAYKyRublH SnrKKmuXzBvtmj2zgUU+S0ka9LdYrjzxoSYprrXQpDr89pUs/AZrlAm9yRjQ3hGw 0eL9UsDFtYAQwCQtPvin2bjKRgNNDbgdwNYNbA7n8jvE/uZ4rlYr3Ot+oxdfs75e K4fY6JwtbZxQVcOU25M3WBYXLl0V61ZISFa16XhYC2hjzgMZ3bfmFUn+TW9C8V4V 03QqtFyT3FP+VfA3QUS3PuBxALT0HWXmDqp0VJc6UCiXX2InWR+uZQp7a30EawOZ WHLqgf+nT3bD3kfagCZN =JJlw -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'drivers-for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm/arm-soc Pull ARM driver updates from Olof Johansson: "Updates of SoC-near drivers and other driver updates that makes more sense to take through our tree. ARM: SoC board updates for 3.14

ARM: SoC DT updates for 3.14
DT and DT-conversion-related changes for various ARM platforms. Most of these are to enable various devices on various boards, etc, and not necessarily worth enumerating. New boards and systems continue to come in as new devicetree files that don't require corresponding C changes any more, which is indicating that the system is starting to work fairly well. A few things worth pointing out: * ST Ericsson ux500 platforms have made the major push to move over to fully support the platform with DT. * Renesas platforms continue their conversion over from legacy platform devices to DT-based for hardware description. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.11 (GNU/Linux) iQIcBAABAgAGBQJS4Vg8AAoJEIwa5zzehBx3tRkP/2dXiXerdB6V63HQ2UjA0J1w wnEqOrHXhIBPHVsAjRs+JOqG1iHxwQ+6qPtpxy//OZy5EN/hTamU5HBAKwcJvbbS He+a2xhOK6nsjr5QrEk2wupXOodhXDXoaU2mqJ51HAN9AOS68QVbHFh1jHs0f7S0 RaPVqHTlpXiiWMZ1ScVwl6qqM/hVcK6H3WOrHz09RWG2V/rFth4cJ6hkXBgqBeYU Zl24Z9mzStaTI7epDEZXq7jZTMX5lzArL2mCA0jKA+YdEy7KSh5GEzqDGu2qi230 wwmJ3g5X1WxDvedXPL0+gUffL7UcHWlEV1nl5KtwVsPf/vpsAUvwPLdlObUgA2nr /cVrdwQYLaPJKg6xq8IWxaS0K34kLdJyUwiNjKxw5s2GayWEwqGRWALn9TANdKz7 Wg+RT0UxjHPL8zj/N1uQV/fTdayHE6PnTPorESKDK0a6q9qqzdUypV3j13d9faIS FbASmq35zO2iOo4ji7SX6wP4ZwPWV1Yx9UBl4RNDlWu9MyB6jsjiJFT1nyr5PxGo WCf8U1Nv4tqCo01gE8AHR1qzlW7cOoya7VMTwDme6J5N9K3GpN+OXqCVItT1lfL2 s2I0OI6TiD7pTAM4WkgCZaKAhPaE/i2Vc9xlGdZ8L77J4allBtLXTAPpIAZj1Lfl a7NT9hbUIiEkTnO8BhHm =4o2d -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'dt-for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm/arm-soc Pull ARM SoC DT updates from Olof Johansson: "DT and DT-conversion-related changes for various ARM platforms. kexec: add sysctl to disable kexec_load
For general-purpose (i.e. distro) kernel builds it makes sense to build with CONFIG_KEXEC to allow end users to choose what kind of things they want to do with kexec. However, in the face of trying to lock down a system with such a kernel, there needs to be a way to disable kexec_load (much like module loading can be disabled). Without this, it is too easy for the root user to modify kernel memory even when CONFIG_STRICT_DEVMEM and modules_disabled are set. With this change, it is still possible to load an image for use later, then disable kexec_load so the image (or lack of image) can't be altered. The intention is for using this in environments where "perfect" enforcement is hard. Without a verified boot, along with verified modules, and along with verified kexec, this is trying to give a system a better chance to defend itself (or at least grow the window of discoverability) against attack in the face of a privilege escalation. In my mind, I consider several boot scenarios: 1) Verified boot of read-only verified root fs loading fd-based verification of kexec images. 2) Secure boot of writable root fs loading signed kexec images. 3) Regular boot loading kexec (e.g. kcrash) image early and locking it. 4) Regular boot with no control of kexec image at all. 1 and 2 don't exist yet, but will soon once the verified kexec series has landed. 4 is the state of things now. The gap between 2 and 4 is too large, so this change creates scenario 3, a middle-ground above 4 when 2 and 1 are not possible for a system. proc: cleanup/simplify get_task_state/task_state_array
get_task_state() and task_state_array[] look confusing and suboptimal, it is not clear what it can actually report to user-space and task_state_array[] blows .data for no reason. 1. state = (tsk->state & TASK_REPORT) | tsk->exit_state is not clear. TASK_REPORT is self-documenting but it is not clear what ->exit_state can add. Move the potential exit_state's (EXIT_ZOMBIE and EXIT_DEAD) into TASK_REPORT and use it to calculate the final result. 2. With the change above it is obvious that task_state_array[] has the unused entries just to make BUILD_BUG_ON() happy. Change this BUILD_BUG_ON() to use TASK_REPORT rather than TASK_STATE_MAX and shrink task_state_array[]. 3. Turn the "while (state)" loop into fls(state). lib/parser.c: add match_wildcard() function
match_wildcard function is a simple implementation of wildcard matching algorithm. add generic fixmap.h
Many architectures provide an asm/fixmap.h which defines support for compile-time 'special' virtual mappings which need to be made before paging_init() has run. This support is also used for early ioremap on x86. Much of this support is identical across the architectures. This patch consolidates all of the common bits into asm-generic/fixmap.h which is intended to be included from arch/*/include/asm/fixmap.h. asm/types.h: Remove include/asm-generic/int-l64.h
Now all 64-bit architectures have been converted to int-ll64.h, we can remove int-l64.h in kernelspace. For backwards compatibility, alpha, ia64, mips64, and powerpc64 still use int-l64.h in userspace. This is the (reworked for UAPI) non-documentation part of more than two year old "asm/types.h: All architectures use int-ll64.h in kernelspace" (https://lkml.org/lkml/2011/8/13/104) Since <asm/types.h> (from include/uapi/asm-generic/types.h) is used for both kernel and user space, include/asm-generic/int-ll64.h cannot just become include/asm-generic/types.h, as Arnd suggested. memcg, slab: RCU protect memcg_params for root caches
We relocate root cache's memcg_params whenever we need to grow the memcg_caches array to accommodate all kmem-active memory cgroups. Currently on relocation we free the old version immediately, which can lead to use-after-free, because the memcg_caches array is accessed lock-free (see cache_from_memcg_idx()). This patch fixes this by making memcg_params RCU-protected for root caches. memcg, slab: clean up memcg cache initialization/destruction
Currently, we have rather a messy function set relating to per-memcg kmem cache initialization/destruction. Per-memcg caches are created in memcg_create_kmem_cache(). This function calls kmem_cache_create_memcg() to allocate and initialize a kmem cache and then "registers" the new cache in the memcg_params::memcg_caches array of the parent cache. During its work-flow, kmem_cache_create_memcg() executes the following memcg-related functions: - memcg_alloc_cache_params(), to initialize memcg_params of the newly created cache; - memcg_cache_list_add(), to add the new cache to the memcg_slab_caches list. On the other hand, kmem_cache_destroy() called on a cache destruction only calls memcg_release_cache(), which does all the work: it cleans the reference to the cache in its parent's memcg_params::memcg_caches, removes the cache from the memcg_slab_caches list, and frees memcg_params. Such an inconsistency between destruction and initialization paths make the code difficult to read, so let's clean this up a bit. This patch moves all the code relating to registration of per-memcg caches (adding to memcg list, setting the pointer to a cache from its parent) to the newly created memcg_register_cache() and memcg_unregister_cache() functions making the initialization and destruction paths look symmetrical. mm: dump page when hitting a VM_BUG_ON using VM_BUG_ON_PAGE
Most of the VM_BUG_ON assertions are performed on a page. Usually, when one of these assertions fails we'll get a BUG_ON with a call stack and the registers. I've recently noticed based on the requests to add a small piece of code that dumps the page to various VM_BUG_ON sites that the page dump is quite useful to people debugging issues in mm. This patch adds a VM_BUG_ON_PAGE(cond, page) which beyond doing what VM_BUG_ON() does, also dumps the page before executing the actual BUG_ON. mm: print more details for bad_page()
bad_page() is cool in that it prints out a bunch of data about the page. But, I can never remember which page flags are good and which are bad, or whether ->index or ->mapping is required to be NULL. This patch allows bad/dump_page() callers to specify a string about why they are dumping the page and adds explanation strings to a number of places. It also adds a 'bad_flags' argument to bad_page(), which it then dumps out separately from the flags which are actually set. This way, the messages will show specifically why the page was bad, *specifically* which flags it is complaining about, if it was a page flag combination which was the problem. This lets us be able to handle more events, have lower latency, and better scalability. Good stuff. The other is PVH by Mukesh Rathor. In short, PV is a mode where the kernel lets the hypervisor program page-tables, segments, etc. With EPT/NPT capabilities in current processors, the overhead of doing this in an HVM (Hardware Virtual Machine) container is much lower than the hypervisor doing it for us. In short we let a PV guest run without doing page-table, segment, syscall, etc updates through the hypervisor - instead it is all done within the guest container. It is a "hybrid" PV - hence the 'PVH' name - a PV guest within an HVM container. The major benefits are less code to deal with - for example we only use one function from the the pv_mmu_ops (which has 39 function calls); faster performance for syscall (no context switches into the hypervisor); less traps on various operations; etc. It is still being baked - the ABI is not yet set in stone. But it is pretty awesome and we are excited about it. Lastly, there are some changes to ARM code - you should get a simple conflict which has been resolved in #linux-next. In short, this pull has awesome features. Features: - FIFO event channels. Key advantages: support for over 100,000 events (2^17), 16 different event priorities, improved fairness in event latency through the use of FIFOs. - Xen PVH support. A set of device-mapper changes for 3.14.
A lot of attention was paid to improving the thin-provisioning target's handling of metadata operation failures and running out of space. A new 'error_if_no_space' feature was added to allow users to error IOs rather than queue them when either the data or metadata space is exhausted. Additional fixes/features include: - a few fixes to properly support thin metadata device resizing - a solution for reliably waiting for a DM device's embedded kobject to be released before destroying the device - old dm-snapshot is updated to use the dm-bufio interface to take advantage of readahead capabilities that improve snapshot activation - new dm-cache target tunables to control how quickly data is promoted to the cache (fast) device - improved write efficiency of cluster mirror target by combining userspace flush and mark requests -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1 iQEcBAABAgAGBQJS4GClAAoJEMUj8QotnQNacdEH/2ES5k5itUQRY9jeI+u2zYNP vdsRTYf+97+B3jpRvpWbMt4kxT2tjaQbkxJ+iKRHy2MBLFUgq8ruH1RS/Q5VbDeg 6i6ol8mpNxhlvo/KTMxXqRcWDSxShiMfhz2lXC2bJ7M4sP/iiH85s4Pm4YQ59jpd OIX7qj36m/cV/le9YQbexJEEsaj+3genbzL26wyyvtG/rT9fWnXa7clj2gqTdToG YCEBCRf5FH9X6W/Oc50nMw5n2dt/MRmPre/MAlOjemeaosB0WJiKaswM25rnvHp0 JnhxQ2K2C5KIKAWIfwPOImdb9zWW7p1dIRLsS8nHBUQr0BF5VRkmvpnYH4qBtcc= =e7e0 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'dm-3.14-changes' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/device-mapper/linux-dm Pull device-mapper changes from Mike Snitzer: "A lot of attention was paid to improving the thin-provisioning target's handling of metadata operation failures and running out of space. This pull request has a new feature to ftrace, namely the trace event
triggers by Tom Zanussi. A trigger is a way to enable an action when an event is hit. The actions are: o trace on/off - enable or disable tracing o snapshot - save the current trace buffer in the snapshot o stacktrace - dump the current stack trace to the ringbuffer o enable/disable events - enable or disable another event Namhyung Kim added updates to the tracing uprobes code.
