While developing the GPE reference counting code we overlooked the
fact that acpi_ev_update_gpes() could have enabled GPEs before
acpi_ev_initialize_gpe_block() was called. As a result, some GPEs
are enabled twice during the initialization.
To fix this issue avoid calling acpi_enable_gpe() from
acpi_ev_initialize_gpe_block() for the GPEs that have nonzero
runtime reference counters.

ACPICA uses acpi_hw_write_gpe_enable_reg() to re-enable a GPE after
an event signaled by it has been handled. However, this function
writes the entire GPE enable mask to the GPE's enable register which
may not be correct. Namely, if one of the other GPEs in the same
register was previously enabled by acpi_enable_gpe() and subsequently
disabled using acpi_set_gpe(), acpi_hw_write_gpe_enable_reg() will
re-enable it along with the target GPE.
To fix this issue rework acpi_hw_write_gpe_enable_reg() so that it
calls acpi_hw_low_set_gpe() with a special action value,
ACPI_GPE_COND_ENABLE, that will make it only enable the GPE if the
corresponding bit in its register's enable_for_run mask is set.

ACPICA uses acpi_ev_enable_gpe() for enabling GPEs at the low level,
which is incorrect, because this function only enables the GPE if the
corresponding bit in its enable register's enable_for_run mask is set.
This causes acpi_set_gpe() to work incorrectly if used for enabling
GPEs that were not previously enabled with acpi_enable_gpe(). As a
result, among other things, wakeup-only GPEs are never enabled by
acpi_enable_wakeup_device(), so the devices that use them are unable
to wake up the system.
To fix this issue remove acpi_ev_enable_gpe() and its counterpart
acpi_ev_disable_gpe() and replace acpi_hw_low_disable_gpe() with
acpi_hw_low_set_gpe() that will be used instead to manipulate GPE
enable bits at the low level. Make the users of acpi_ev_enable_gpe()
and acpi_ev_disable_gpe() call acpi_hw_low_set_gpe() instead and
make sure that GPE enable masks are only updated by acpi_enable_gpe()
and acpi_disable_gpe() when GPE reference counters change from 0
to 1 and from 1 to 0, respectively.

In quite a few places ACPICA needs to compute a GPE enable mask with
only one bit, corresponding to a given GPE, set. Currently, that
computation is always open coded which leads to unnecessary code
duplication. Fix this by introducing a helper function for computing
one-bit GPE enable masks and using it where appropriate.

Commit 0f849d2cc6 (ACPICA: Minimize
the differences between linux GPE code and ACPICA code base)
introduced a change attempting to disable a GPE before installing
a handler for it in acpi_install_gpe_handler() which was incorrect.
First, the GPE disabled by it is never enabled again (except during
resume) which leads to battery insert/remove events not being
reported on the Maxim Levitsky's machine. Second, the disabled
GPE is still reported as enabled by the sysfs interface that only
checks its enable register's enable_for_run mask.
Revert this change for now, because it causes more damage to happen
than the bug it was supposed to fix.

acpi_hw_set_mode() double checks its effectiveness
by calling acpi_hw_get_mode() -- polling up to 3 seconds.
It would be more logical for its caller, acpi_enable()
acpi_enable() to do the double-checking. (lets assume
that acpi_disable() isn't interesting)
The ACPI specification is unclear on this point.
Some parts say that the BIOS sets SCI_EN and then returns to the OS,
but one part says "OSPM polls the SCI_EN bit until it is sampled SET".
The systems I have on hand do the former,
SCI_EN is observed to be set upon return from the BIOS.
So we move the check up out of acpi_hw_set_mode()
up into acpi_enable() where it makes logical sense.
Then we replace the 3-second polling loop
with a single check. If this check fails, we'll see:
"Hardware did not enter ACPI mode"
and the system will bail out of ACPI initialization
and likely fail to boot. If we see that in practice,
we can restore the polling, but put it into acpi_enable.
This patch is important if acpi_enable() is used in
the resume from S3 path. Many systems today are seen
coming back from S3 with SCI_EN off, and then failing
to set SCI_EN in response to acpi_enable(). Those systems
will take 3 seconds longer to resume due to this loop.
However, it is possible that we will not use acpi_enable()
in the S3 resume path, and bang SCI_EN directly, which
would make the loop harmless, as it would be invisible
to all systems except those that need it.

acpi_ev_enable_gpe() should enable the GPE at the hardware level
regardless of the value of the GPE's runtime reference counter.
There are only two callers of acpi_ev_enable_gpe(), acpi_enable_gpe()
and acpi_set_gpe(). The first one checks the GPE's runtime
reference counter itself and only calls acpi_ev_enable_gpe() if it's
equal to one, and the other one is supposed to enable the GPE
unconditionally (if called with ACPI_GPE_ENABLE).
This change fixes the problem in acpi_enable_wakeup_device() where
the GPE will not be enabled for wakeup if it's runtime reference
counter is zero, which is a regression from 2.6.33.

Currently it only is possible to install one system notify handler
per namespace node, but this is not enough for PCI run-time power
management, because we need to install power management notifiers for
devices that already have hotplug notifiers installed. While in
principle this could be handled at the PCI level, that would be
suboptimal due to the way in which the ACPI-based PCI hotplug code is
designed.
For this reason, modify ACPICA so that it is possible to install more
than one system notify handler per namespace node. Namely, make
acpi_install_notify_handler(), acpi_remove_notify_handler() and
acpi_ev_notify_dispatch() use a list of system notify handler objects
associated with a namespace node.
Make acpi_remove_notify_handler() call acpi_os_wait_events_complete()
upfront to avoid a situation in which concurrent instance of
acpi_remove_notify_handler() removes the handler from under us while
we're waiting for the event queues to flush.

ACPI GPEs may map to multiple devices. The current GPE interface
only provides a mechanism for enabling and disabling GPEs, making
it difficult to change the state of GPEs at runtime without extensive
cooperation between devices.
Add an API to allow devices to indicate whether or not they want
their device's GPE to be enabled for both runtime and wakeup events.
Remove the old GPE type handling entirely, which gets rid of various
quirks, like the implicit disabling with GPE type setting. This
requires a small amount of rework in order to ensure that non-wake
GPEs are enabled by default to preserve existing behaviour.

This message happens when the package element list is longer than

because this condition is not actually an error. It is caused by

Fixes a possible memory leak in the interpreter for package
objects if the package initializer list is longer than the
defined size of the package. This apparently can only happen
if the BIOS changes the package size on the fly (seen in a _PSS
object), as both iASL and the other compiler do not allow this.
The interpreter will truncate the package to the defined size
(and issue an error message), but can leave the extra objects
undeleted if they have been pre-created during the argument
processing (such is the case if the package consists of a number
of sub-packages as in the _PSS.) ACPICA BZ 805.

If the dynamic region is created and added to resource list over and over again,
it has the potential to be a memory leak by growing the list every time.
This patch fixes the memory leak, as below
1) add a new field "count" to struct acpi_res_list.
When inserting, if the region(addr, len) is already in the resource
list, we just increase "count", otherwise, the region is inserted
with count=1.
When deleting, the "count" is decreased, if it's decreased to 0,
the region is deleted from the resource list.
With "count", the region with same address and length can only be
inserted to the resource list once, so prevent potential memory leak.
2) add a new function acpi_os_invalidate_address, which is called when
region is deleted.

Support for graceful handling of sleep states (S3/S4/S5) after an Intel(R) TXT launch.
Without this patch, attempting to place the system in one of the ACPI sleep
states (S3/S4/S5) will cause the TXT hardware to treat this as an attack and
will cause a system reset, with memory locked. Not only may the subsequent
memory scrub take some time, but the platform will be unable to enter the
requested power state.
This patch calls back into the tboot so that it may properly and securely clean
up system state and clear the secrets-in-memory flag, after which it will place
the system into the requested sleep state using ACPI information passed by the kernel.

validation on the package returned from _PRT. It assumes a package of

We should validate each subpackage when extracted from the parent

For windows compatibility,
1) On a port protection violation, simply ignore the request and
do not return an exception (allow the control method to continue execution.)
2) If only part of the request overlaps a protected port,
read/write the individual ports that are not protected.

Asus boards have an ACPI interface for interacting with the hwmon (fan,
temperatures, voltages) subsystem; this driver exposes the relevant
information via the standard sysfs interface.
There are two different ACPI interfaces:
- an old one (based on RVLT/RFAN/RTMP)
- a new one (GGRP/GITM)
Both may be present but there a few cases (my board, sigh) where the
new interface is just an empty stub; the driver defaults to the old one
when both are present.
The old interface has received a considerable testing, but I'm still
awaiting confirmation from my tester that the new one is working as
expected (hence the debug code is still enabled).
Currently all the attributes are read-only, though a (partial) control
should be possible with a bit more work.

Use the 32-bit register addresses whenever they are non-zero. This
means that the 32-bit addresses are favored over the 64-bit
(GAS) addresses. The 64-bit addresses are only used if the 32-bit
addresses are zero. This change provides compatibility with all
versions of Windows. The worst case that this solves is when both
the 32-bit and 64-bit addresses are non-zero, but only the 32-bit
addresses are actually valid. This appears to happen in some
BIOSes because in this case, Windows uses the 32-bit addresses.

Ignored bits must be preserved according to the ACPI spec.
Usually this means a read/modify/write when writing to the
register. However, for status registers, writing a one means
clear the event. Writing a zero means preserve the event (do not
clear.) This behavior is clarified in the ACPI 4.0 spec, and the
ACPICA code now simply always writes a zero to the ignored bit.

During early boot, ACPI RSDT/XSDT table entries are gathered into the
'initial_tables[]' array. This array is currently statically defined (see
./drivers/acpi/tables.c). When there are more table entries than can be
held in the 'initial_tables[]' array, the message "Truncating N table
entries!" is output. As currently implemented, this message will always
erroneously calculate N as 0.
This patch fixes the calculation that determines how many table entries
will be missing (truncated).
