When writing values to the IOP status/control register make sure those
values do not have any extraneous bits that will clear interrupt flags.
To place the SCC IOP into bypass mode would be desirable but this is not
achieved by writing IOP_DMAINACTIVE | IOP_RUN | IOP_AUTOINC | IOP_BYPASS
to the control register. Drop this ineffective register write.
Remove the flawed and unused iop_bypass() function. Make use of the
unused iop_stop() function.

In the following sequence of calls, iop_do_send() gets called when the
"send" channel is not in the IOP_MSG_IDLE state:
iop_ism_irq()
iop_handle_send()
(msg->handler)()
iop_send_message()
iop_do_send()
Avoid this by testing the channel state before calling iop_do_send().
When sending, and iop_send_queue is empty, call iop_do_send() because
the channel is idle. If iop_send_queue is not empty, iop_do_send() will
get called later by iop_handle_send().

Patch series "mm: consolidate definitions of page table accessors", v2.
The low level page table accessors (pXY_index(), pXY_offset()) are
duplicated across all architectures and sometimes more than once. For
instance, we have 31 definition of pgd_offset() for 25 supported
architectures.
Most of these definitions are actually identical and typically it boils
down to, e.g.
static inline unsigned long pmd_index(unsigned long address)
{
return (address >> PMD_SHIFT) & (PTRS_PER_PMD - 1);
}
static inline pmd_t *pmd_offset(pud_t *pud, unsigned long address)
{
return (pmd_t *)pud_page_vaddr(*pud) + pmd_index(address);
}
These definitions can be shared among 90% of the arches provided
XYZ_SHIFT, PTRS_PER_XYZ and xyz_page_vaddr() are defined.
For architectures that really need a custom version there is always
possibility to override the generic version with the usual ifdefs magic.
These patches introduce include/linux/pgtable.h that replaces
include/asm-generic/pgtable.h and add the definitions of the page table
accessors to the new header.
This patch (of 12):
The linux/mm.h header includes <asm/pgtable.h> to allow inlining of the
functions involving page table manipulations, e.g. pte_alloc() and
pmd_alloc(). So, there is no point to explicitly include <asm/pgtable.h>
in the files that include <linux/mm.h>.
The include statements in such cases are remove with a simple loop:
for f in $(git grep -l "include <linux/mm.h>") ; do
sed -i -e '/include <asm\/pgtable.h>/ d' $f
done

On a Quadra 900/950, the ISM IOP IRQ output pin is connected to an
edge-triggered input on VIA2. It is theoretically possible that this
signal could fail to produce the expected VIA2 interrupt.
The two IOP interrupt flags can be asserted in any order but the logic
in iop_ism_irq() does not allow for that. In particular, INT0 can be
asserted right after INT0 is checked and before INT1 is cleared.
Such an interrupt would produce no new edge and VIA2 would detect no
further interrupts from the IOP. Avoid this by looping over the INT0/1
handlers so an edge can be produced.

Rename floppy_type macros to make them more consistent with the scsi_type
macros, which are named after classes of models with similar memory maps.
The MAC_FLOPPY_OLD symbol is introduced to change the relevant base
address from 0x50F00000 to 0x50000000 (consistent with MAC_SCSI_OLD).
The documentation for LC-class machines has the IO devices at offsets
from $50F00000. Use these addresses for MAC_FLOPPY_LC (consistent with
MAC_SCSI_LC) because they may not be aliased elsewhere in the memory map.

Drivers for the Macintosh Family', relevant Developer Notes and

The big merge conflict this time around is the SPDX licence tags.
Following discussion on linux-next, we believe our version to be more
accurate than the one in the tree, so the resolution is to take our
version for all the SPDX conflicts"
Note on the SPDX license tag conversion conflicts: the SCSI tree had
done its own SPDX conversion, which in some cases conflicted with the
treewide ones done by Thomas & co.
In almost all cases, the conflicts were purely syntactic: the SCSI tree
used the old-style SPDX tags ("GPL-2.0" and "GPL-2.0+") while the
treewide conversion had used the new-style ones ("GPL-2.0-only" and
"GPL-2.0-or-later").
In these cases I picked the new-style one.
In a few cases, the SPDX conversion was actually different, though. As
explained by James above, and in more detail in a pre-pull-request
thread:
"The other problem is actually substantive: In the libsas code Luben
Tuikov originally specified gpl 2.0 only by dint of stating:
* This file is licensed under GPLv2.
In all the libsas files, but then muddied the water by quoting GPLv2
verbatim (which includes the or later than language). So for these
files Christoph did the conversion to v2 only SPDX tags and Thomas
converted to v2 or later tags"
So in those cases, where the spdx tag substantially mattered, I took the
SCSI tree conversion of it, but then also took the opportunity to turn
the old-style "GPL-2.0" into a new-style "GPL-2.0-only" tag.
Similarly, when there were whitespace differences or other differences
to the comments around the copyright notices, I took the version from
the SCSI tree as being the more specific conversion.
Finally, in the spdx conversions that had no conflicts (because the
treewide ones hadn't been done for those files), I just took the SCSI
tree version as-is, even if it was old-style. The old-style conversions
are perfectly valid, even if the "-only" and "-or-later" versions are
perhaps more descriptive.

Some platforms execute their timer handler with the interrupt priority
level set below 6. That means the handler could be interrupted by another
driver and this could lead to re-entry of the timer core.
Avoid this by use of local_irq_save/restore for timer interrupt dispatch.
This provides mutual exclusion around the timer interrupt flag access
which is needed later in this series for the clocksource conversion.

- A series to improve the hvc driver & related OPAL console code, which have
been seen to cause hardlockups at times. The hvc driver changes in particular
have been in linux-next for ~month.
- Increase our MAX_PHYSMEM_BITS to 128TB when SPARSEMEM_VMEMMAP=y.
- Remove Power8 DD1 and Power9 DD1 support, neither chip should be in use
anywhere other than as a paper weight.
- An optimised memcmp implementation using Power7-or-later VMX instructions
- Support for barrier_nospec on some NXP CPUs.
- Support for flushing the count cache on context switch on some IBM CPUs
(controlled by firmware), as a Spectre v2 mitigation.
- A series to enhance the information we print on unhandled signals to bring it

"Notable changes:
- A fix for a bug in our page table fragment allocator, where a page
table page could be freed and reallocated for something else while
still in use, leading to memory corruption etc. The fix reuses
pt_mm in struct page (x86 only) for a powerpc only refcount.
- Fixes to our pkey support. Several are user-visible changes, but
bring us in to line with x86 behaviour and/or fix outright bugs.
Thanks to Florian Weimer for reporting many of these.
- A series to improve the hvc driver & related OPAL console code,
which have been seen to cause hardlockups at times. The hvc driver
changes in particular have been in linux-next for ~month.
- Increase our MAX_PHYSMEM_BITS to 128TB when SPARSEMEM_VMEMMAP=y.
- Remove Power8 DD1 and Power9 DD1 support, neither chip should be in
use anywhere other than as a paper weight.
- An optimised memcmp implementation using Power7-or-later VMX
instructions
- Support for barrier_nospec on some NXP CPUs.
- Support for flushing the count cache on context switch on some IBM
CPUs (controlled by firmware), as a Spectre v2 mitigation.
- A series to enhance the information we print on unhandled signals
to bring it into line with other arches, including showing the
offending VMA and dumping the instructions around the fault.

Commit 397ac99c6c ("m68k: remove dead timer code") removed set_rtc_mmss()
because it was unused in 2012. However, this was itself the only user of the
mach_set_clock_mmss() callback and the many implementations of that callback,
which are equally unused.
This removes all of those as well.

The real-time clock on m68k (and powerpc) mac systems uses an unsigned
32-bit value starting in 1904, which overflows in 2040, about two years
later than everyone else, but this gets wrapped around in the Linux
code in 2038 already because of the deprecated usage of time_t and/or
long in the conversion.
Getting rid of the deprecated interfaces makes it work until 2040 as
documented, and it could be easily extended by reinterpreting
the resulting time64_t as a positive number. For the moment, I'm
adding a WARN_ON() that triggers if we encounter a time before 1970
or after 2040 (the two are indistinguishable).
This brings it in line with the corresponding code that we have on
powerpc macintosh.

The PMU watchdog will power down the system if the kernel is slow

setup_arch
find_via_pmu
init_pmu
...
arch_initcall
via_pmu_start

The algorithm used in baboon_irq() appears to be subject to a race
condition: an IRQ flag could be lost if asserted between the MOV
instructions from and to the interrupt flag register. However,
testing shows that the write to the flag register has no effect.
Rewrite this loop to remove the apparent race condition.
No-one seems to know how to clear Baboon IRQ flags, or whether
that's even possible, so add a comment about this.

The interrupt dispatch algorithm used in the OSS driver seems to be
subject to race conditions: an IRQ flag could be lost if asserted between
the MOV instructions from and to the interrupt flag register. But testing
shows that the write to the flag register has no effect, so rewrite the
algorithm without the theoretical race condition.
There is a second theoretical race condition here. When oss_irq() is
called with say, IPL == 2 it will invoke the SCSI interrupt handler.
The SCSI IRQ is then cleared by the mac_scsi driver. If SCSI and NuBus
IRQs are now asserted together, oss_irq() will be invoked with IPL == 3
and the mac_scsi interrupt handler can be re-entered. This re-entrance
issue is not limited to SCSI and could affect NuBus and ADB drivers too.
Fix it by splitting up oss_irq() into separate handlers for each IPL.
No-one seems to know how OSS irq flags can be cleared, if at all, so add
a comment to this effect (actually reinstate one I previously removed).
Testing showed that a slot IRQ with no handler can remain asserted (in
this case a Radius video card) without causing problems for other IRQs.

"Yet another big pile of changes:
- More year 2038 work from Arnd slowly reaching the point where we
need to think about the syscalls themself.
- A new timer function which allows to conditionally (re)arm a timer
only when it's either not running or the new expiry time is sooner
than the armed expiry time. This allows to use a single timer for
multiple timeout requirements w/o caring about the first expiry
time at the call site.
- A new NMI safe accessor to clock real time for the printk timestamp
work. Can be used by tracing, perf as well if required.
- A large number of timer setup conversions from Kees which got
collected here because either maintainers requested so or they
simply got ignored. As Kees pointed out already there are a few
trivial merge conflicts and some redundant commits which was
unavoidable due to the size of this conversion effort.
- Avoid a redundant iteration in the timer wheel softirq processing.
- Provide a mechanism to treat RTC implementations depending on their
hardware properties, i.e. don't inflict the write at the 0.5
seconds boundary which originates from the PC CMOS RTC to all RTCs.
No functional change as drivers need to be updated separately.
- The usual small updates to core code clocksource drivers. Nothing
really exciting"
