netfilter: nft_set_pipapo: remove scratch_aligned pointer
use ->scratch for both avx2 and the generic implementation.
After previous change the scratch->map member is always aligned properly
for AVX2, so we can just use scratch->map in AVX2 too.
The alignoff delta is stored in the scratchpad so we can reconstruct
the correct address to free the area again.

netfilter: nft_set_pipapo: store index in scratch maps
Pipapo needs a scratchpad area to keep state during matching.
This state can be large and thus cannot reside on stack.
Each set preallocates percpu areas for this.
On each match stage, one scratchpad half starts with all-zero and the other
is inited to all-ones.
At the end of each stage, the half that starts with all-ones is
always zero. Before next field is tested, pointers to the two halves
are swapped, i.e. resmap pointer turns into fill pointer and vice versa.
After the last field has been processed, pipapo stashes the
index toggle in a percpu variable, with assumption that next packet
will start with the all-zero half and sets all bits in the other to 1.
This isn't reliable.
There can be multiple sets and we can't be sure that the upper
and lower half of all set scratch map is always in sync (lookups
can be conditional), so one set might have swapped, but other might
not have been queried.
Thus we need to keep the index per-set-and-cpu, just like the
scratchpad.
Note that this bug fix is incomplete, there is a related issue.
avx2 and normal implementation might use slightly different areas of the
map array space due to the avx2 alignment requirements, so
m->scratch (generic/fallback implementation) and ->scratch_aligned
(avx) may partially overlap. scratch and scratch_aligned are not distinct
objects, the latter is just the aligned address of the former.
After this change, write to scratch_align->map_index may write to
scratch->map, so this issue becomes more prominent, we can set to 1
a bit in the supposedly-all-zero area of scratch->map[].
A followup patch will remove the scratch_aligned and makes generic and
avx code use the same (aligned) area.
Its done in a separate change to ease review.

netfilter: nf_tables: use timestamp to check for set element timeout
Add a timestamp field at the beginning of the transaction, store it
in the nftables per-netns area.
Update set backend .insert, .deactivate and sync gc path to use the
timestamp, this avoids that an element expires while control plane
transaction is still unfinished.
.lookup and .update, which are used from packet path, still use the
current time to check if the element has expired. And .get path and dump
also since this runs lockless under rcu read size lock. Then, there is
async gc which also needs to check the current time since it runs
asynchronously from a workqueue.

libceph: just wait for more data to be available on the socket
A short read may occur while reading the message footer from the
socket. Later, when the socket is ready for another read, the
messenger invokes all read_partial_*() handlers, including
read_partial_sparse_msg_data(). The expectation is that
read_partial_sparse_msg_data() would bail, allowing the messenger to
invoke read_partial() for the footer and pick up where it left off.
However read_partial_sparse_msg_data() violates that and ends up
calling into the state machine in the OSD client. The sparse-read
state machine assumes that it's a new op and interprets some piece of
the footer as the sparse-read header and returns bogus extents/data
length, etc.
To determine whether read_partial_sparse_msg_data() should bail, let's
reuse cursor->total_resid. Because once it reaches to zero that means
all the extents and data have been successfully received in last read,
else it could break out when partially reading any of the extents and
data. And then osd_sparse_read() could continue where it left off.

The cause of this issue is that when tipc_nl_bearer_add() is called with
the TIPC_NLA_BEARER_UDP_OPTS attribute, tipc_udp_nl_bearer_add() is called
even if the bearer is not UDP.
tipc_udp_is_known_peer() called by tipc_udp_nl_bearer_add() assumes that
the media_ptr field of the tipc_bearer has an udp_bearer type object, so
the function goes crazy for non-UDP bearers.
This patch fixes the issue by checking the bearer type before calling
tipc_udp_nl_bearer_add() in tipc_nl_bearer_add().

rxrpc: Fix counting of new acks and nacks
Fix the counting of new acks and nacks when parsing a packet - something
that is used in congestion control.
As the code stands, it merely notes if there are any nacks whereas what we
really should do is compare the previous SACK table to the new one,
assuming we get two successive ACK packets with nacks in them. However, we
really don't want to do that if we can avoid it as the tables might not
correspond directly as one may be shifted from the other - something that
will only get harder to deal with once extended ACK tables come into full
use (with a capacity of up to 8192).
Instead, count the number of nacks shifted out of the old SACK, the number
of nacks retained in the portion still active and the number of new acks
and nacks in the new table then calculate what we need.
Note this ends up a bit of an estimate as the Rx protocol allows acks to be
withdrawn by the receiver and packets requested to be retransmitted.

rxrpc: Fix generation of serial numbers to skip zero
In the Rx protocol, every packet generated is marked with a per-connection
monotonically increasing serial number. This number can be referenced in
an ACK packet generated in response to an incoming packet - thereby
allowing the sender to use this for RTT determination, amongst other
things.
However, if the reference field in the ACK is zero, it doesn't refer to any
incoming packet (it could be a ping to find out if a packet got lost, for
example) - so we shouldn't generate zero serial numbers.
Fix the generation of serial numbers to retry if it comes up with a zero.
Furthermore, since the serial numbers are only ever allocated within the
I/O thread this connection is bound to, there's no need for atomics so
remove that too.

wifi: mac80211: improve CSA/ECSA connection refusal
As mentioned in the previous commit, we pretty quickly found

Improve this situation by checking more carefully and ignoring
the ECSA if cfg80211 has previously detected the ECSA element

mptcp: fix data re-injection from stale subflow
When the MPTCP PM detects that a subflow is stale, all the packet scheduler must re-inject all the mptcp-level unacked data. To avoid acquiring unneeded locks, it first try to check if any unacked data is present at all in the RTX queue, but such check is currently broken, as it uses TCP-specific helper on an MPTCP socket. Funnily enough fuzzers and static checkers are happy, as the accessed memory still belongs to the mptcp_sock struct, and even from a functional perspective the recovery completed successfully, as the short-cut test always failed. af_unix: fix lockdep positive in sk_diag_dump_icons()
syzbot reported a lockdep splat [1].
Blamed commit hinted about the possible lockdep
violation, and code used unix_state_lock_nested()
in an attempt to silence lockdep.
It is not sufficient, because unix_state_lock_nested()
is already used from unix_state_double_lock().
We need to use a separate subclass.
This patch adds a distinct enumeration to make things
more explicit.
Also use swap() in unix_state_double_lock() as a clean up.
v2: add a missing inline keyword to unix_state_lock_nested()

netfilter: conntrack: check SCTP_CID_SHUTDOWN_ACK for vtag setting in sctp_new
The annotation says in sctp_new(): "If it is a shutdown ack OOTB packet, we expect a return shutdown complete, otherwise an ABORT Sec 8.4 (5) and (8)". However, it does not check SCTP_CID_SHUTDOWN_ACK before setting vtag[REPLY] in the conntrack entry(ct). Because of that, if the ct in Router disappears for some reason in [1] with the packet sequence like below: Client > Server: sctp (1) [INIT] [init tag: 3201533963] Server > Client: sctp (1) [INIT ACK] [init tag: 972498433] Client > Server: sctp (1) [COOKIE ECHO] Server > Client: sctp (1) [COOKIE ACK] Client > Server: sctp (1) [DATA] (B)(E) [TSN: 3075057809] Server > Client: sctp (1) [SACK] [cum ack 3075057809] Server > Client: sctp (1) [HB REQ] (the ct in Router disappears somehow) <-------- [1] Client > Server: sctp (1) [HB ACK] Client > Server: sctp (1) [DATA] (B)(E) [TSN: 3075057810] Client > Server: sctp (1) [DATA] (B)(E) [TSN: 3075057810] Client > Server: sctp (1) [HB REQ] Client > Server: sctp (1) [DATA] (B)(E) [TSN: 3075057810] Client > Server: sctp (1) [HB REQ] Client > Server: sctp (1) [ABORT] when processing HB ACK packet in Router it calls sctp_new() to initialize the new ct with vtag[REPLY] set to HB_ACK packet's vtag. Later when sending DATA from Client, all the SACKs from Server will get dropped in Router, as the SACK packet's vtag does not match vtag[REPLY] in the ct. The worst thing is the vtag in this ct will never get fixed by the upcoming packets from Server. This patch fixes it by checking SCTP_CID_SHUTDOWN_ACK before setting vtag[REPLY] in the ct in sctp_new() as the annotation says. With this fix, it will leave vtag[REPLY] in ct to 0 in the case above, and the next HB REQ/ACK from Server is able to fix the vtag as its value is 0 in nf_conntrack_sctp_packet(). least for MLD reports to arrive before switching from flooding to group
based, MLD snooped forwarding, to avoid temporary packet loss.
However in a batman-adv mesh network it was noticed that after 248 days of
uptime 32bit MIPS based devices would start to signal that they had
stopped applying multicast snooping due to missing queriers - even though
they were the elected querier and still sending MLD queries themselves.
While time_is_before_jiffies() generally is safe against jiffies
wrap-arounds, like the code comments in jiffies.h explain, it won't
be able to track a difference larger than ULONG_MAX/2. With a 32bit
large jiffies and one jiffies tick every 10ms (CONFIG_HZ=100) on these MIPS
devices running OpenWrt this would result in a difference larger than
ULONG_MAX/2 after 248 (= 2^32/100/60/60/24/2) days and
time_is_before_jiffies() would then start to return false instead of
true. Leading to multicast snooping not being applied to multicast
packets anymore.
Fix this issue by using a proper timer_list object which won't have this
ULONG_MAX/2 difference limitation.

ipv6: Ensure natural alignment of const ipv6 loopback and router addresses
On a parisc64 kernel I sometimes notice this kernel warning:
Kernel unaligned access to 0x40ff8814 at ndisc_send_skb+0xc0/0x4d8
The address 0x40ff8814 points to the in6addr_linklocal_allrouters
variable and the warning simply means that some ipv6 function tries to
read a 64-bit word directly from the not-64-bit aligned
in6addr_linklocal_allrouters variable.
Unaligned accesses are non-critical as the architecture or exception
handlers usually will fix it up at runtime. Nevertheless it may trigger
a performance penality for some architectures. For details read the
"unaligned-memory-access" kernel documentation.
The patch below ensures that the ipv6 loopback and router addresses will
always be naturally aligned. This prevents the unaligned accesses for
all architectures.

tcp: add sanity checks to rx zerocopy
TCP rx zerocopy intent is to map pages initially allocated
from NIC drivers, not pages owned by a fs.
This patch adds to can_map_frag() these additional checks:
- Page must not be a compound one.
- page->mapping must be NULL.
This fixes the panic reported by ZhangPeng.
syzbot was able to loopback packets built with sendfile(),
mapping pages owned by an ext4 file to TCP rx zerocopy.

nfc: nci: free rx_data_reassembly skb on NCI device cleanup
rx_data_reassembly skb is stored during NCI data exchange for processing
fragmented packets. It is dropped only when the last fragment is processed
or when an NTF packet with NCI_OP_RF_DEACTIVATE_NTF opcode is received.
However, the NCI device may be deallocated before that which leads to skb
leak.
As by design the rx_data_reassembly skb is bound to the NCI device and
nothing prevents the device to be freed before the skb is processed in
some way and cleaned, free it on the NCI device cleanup.

Syzkaller reported [1] hitting a warning after failing to allocate

not help much in this case, it might be prudent to switch to

Just in case, use netdev_warn_once() in send_prp_supervision_frame()

The logic to determine if SMC-D link group matches is incorrect. The
correct logic should be that it only returns true when the GID is the

It can be fixed by adding brackets around the conditional (or ternary)

xdp: reflect tail increase for MEM_TYPE_XSK_BUFF_POOL
XSK ZC Rx path calculates the size of data that will be posted to XSK Rx
queue via subtracting xdp_buff::data_end from xdp_buff::data.
In bpf_xdp_frags_increase_tail(), when underlying memory type of
xdp_rxq_info is MEM_TYPE_XSK_BUFF_POOL, add offset to data_end in tail
fragment, so that later on user space will be able to take into account
the amount of bytes added by XDP program.

This comes from __xdp_return() call with xdp_buff argument passed as
NULL which is supposed to be consumed by xsk_buff_free() call.
To address this properly, in ZC case, a node that represents the frag
being removed has to be pulled out of xskb_list. Introduce
appropriate xsk helpers to do such node operation and use them
accordingly within bpf_xdp_adjust_tail().

xsk: make xsk_buff_pool responsible for clearing xdp_buff::flags
XDP multi-buffer support introduced XDP_FLAGS_HAS_FRAGS flag that is used by drivers to notify data path whether xdp_buff contains fragments or not. Data path looks up mentioned flag on first buffer that occupies the linear part of xdp_buff, so drivers only modify it there. This is sufficient for SKB and XDP_DRV modes as usually xdp_buff is allocated on stack or it resides within struct representing driver's queue and fragments are carried via skb_frag_t structs. IOW, we are dealing with only one xdp_buff. ZC mode though relies on list of xdp_buff structs that is carried via xsk_buff_pool::xskb_list, so ZC data path has to make sure that fragments do *not* have XDP_FLAGS_HAS_FRAGS set. Otherwise, xsk_buff_free() could misbehave if it would be executed against xdp_buff that carries a frag with XDP_FLAGS_HAS_FRAGS flag set. Such scenario can take place when within supplied XDP program bpf_xdp_adjust_tail() is used with negative offset that would in turn release the tail fragment from multi-buffer frame. Calling xsk_buff_free() on tail fragment with XDP_FLAGS_HAS_FRAGS would result in releasing all the nodes from xskb_list that were produced by driver before XDP program execution, which is not what is intended - only tail fragment should be deleted from xskb_list and then it should be put onto xsk_buff_pool::free_list. Such multi-buffer frame will never make it up to user space, so from AF_XDP application POV there would be no traffic running, however due to free_list getting constantly new nodes, driver will be able to feed HW Rx queue with recycled buffers. Bottom line is that instead of traffic being redirected to user space, it would be continuously dropped. To fix this, let us clear the mentioned flag on xsk_buff_pool side during xdp_buff initialization, which is what should have been done right from the start of XSK multi-buffer support. Fixes: |

netfilter: nf_tables: restrict anonymous set and map names to 16 bytes
nftables has two types of sets/maps, one where userspace defines the
name, and anonymous sets/maps, where userspace defines a template name.
For the latter, kernel requires presence of exactly one "%d".
nftables uses "__set%d" and "__map%d" for this. The kernel will
expand the format specifier and replaces it with the smallest unused
number.
As-is, userspace could define a template name that allows to move
the set name past the 256 bytes upperlimit (post-expansion).
I don't see how this could be a problem, but I would prefer if userspace
cannot do this, so add a limit of 16 bytes for the '%d' template name.
16 bytes is the old total upper limit for set names that existed when
nf_tables was merged initially.

net/sched: flower: Fix chain template offload
When a qdisc is deleted from a net device the stack instructs the
underlying driver to remove its flow offload callback from the
associated filter block using the 'FLOW_BLOCK_UNBIND' command. The stack
then continues to replay the removal of the filters in the block for
this driver by iterating over the chains in the block and invoking the
'reoffload' operation of the classifier being used. In turn, the
classifier in its 'reoffload' operation prepares and emits a
'FLOW_CLS_DESTROY' command for each filter.
However, the stack does not do the same for chain templates and the
underlying driver never receives a 'FLOW_CLS_TMPLT_DESTROY' command when
a qdisc is deleted. This results in a memory leak [1] which can be
reproduced using [2].
Fix by introducing a 'tmplt_reoffload' operation and have the stack
invoke it with the appropriate arguments as part of the replay.
Implement the operation in the sole classifier that supports chain
templates (flower) by emitting the 'FLOW_CLS_TMPLT_{CREATE,DESTROY}'
command based on whether a flow offload callback is being bound to a
filter block or being unbound from one.
As far as I can tell, the issue happens since cited commit which
reordered tcf_block_offload_unbind() before tcf_block_flush_all_chains()
in __tcf_block_put(). The order cannot be reversed as the filter block
is expected to be freed after flushing all the chains.

vfree(skb->head) //sleeping while holding spinlock
In netlink_sendmsg, if the memory pointed to by skb->head is allocated by
vmalloc, and is put to sk_receive_queue queue, also the skb is not freed.
When the mqueue executes flush, the sleeping bug will occur. Use
vfree_atomic instead of vfree in netlink_skb_destructor to solve the issue.

tcp: Add memory barrier to tcp_push()
On CPUs with weak memory models, reads and updates performed by tcp_push to the sk variables can get reordered leaving the socket throttled when it should not. The tasklet running tcp_wfree() may also not observe the memory updates in time and will skip flushing any packets throttled by tcp_push(), delaying the sending. This can pathologically cause 40ms extra latency due to bad interactions with delayed acks. Adding a memory barrier in tcp_push removes the bug, similarly to the previous commit |

net/rds: Fix UBSAN: array-index-out-of-bounds in rds_cmsg_recv
Syzcaller UBSAN crash occurs in rds_cmsg_recv(),
which reads inc->i_rx_lat_trace[j + 1] with index 4 (3 + 1),
but with array size of 4 (RDS_RX_MAX_TRACES).
Here 'j' is assigned from rs->rs_rx_trace[i] and in-turn from
trace.rx_trace_pos[i] in rds_recv_track_latency(),
with both arrays sized 3 (RDS_MSG_RX_DGRAM_TRACE_MAX). So fix the
off-by-one bounds check in rds_recv_track_latency() to prevent
a potential crash in rds_cmsg_recv().

net: fix removing a namespace with conflicting altnames
Mark reports a BUG() when a net namespace is removed.
kernel BUG at net/core/dev.c:11520!
Physical interfaces moved outside of init_net get "refunded"
to init_net when that namespace disappears. The main interface
name may get overwritten in the process if it would have
conflicted. We need to also discard all conflicting altnames.
Recent fixes addressed ensuring that altnames get moved
with the main interface, which surfaced this problem.

udp: fix busy polling
Generic sk_busy_loop_end() only looks at sk->sk_receive_queue
for presence of packets.
Problem is that for UDP sockets after blamed commit, some packets
could be present in another queue: udp_sk(sk)->reader_queue
In some cases, a busy poller could spin until timeout expiration,
even if some packets are available in udp_sk(sk)->reader_queue.
v3: - make sk_busy_loop_end() nicer (Willem)
v2: - add a READ_ONCE(sk->sk_family) in sk_is_inet() to avoid KCSAN splats.
- add a sk_is_inet() check in sk_is_udp() (Willem feedback)
- add a sk_is_inet() check in sk_is_tcp().

llc: Drop support for ETH_P_TR_802_2.
syzbot reported an uninit-value bug below. [0] llc supports ETH_P_802_2 (0x0004) and used to support ETH_P_TR_802_2 (0x0011), and syzbot abused the latter to trigger the bug. write$tun(r0, &(0x7f0000000040)={@val={0x0, 0x11}, @val, @mpls={[], @llc={@snap={0xaa, 0x1, ')', "90e5dd"}}}}, 0x16) llc_conn_handler() initialises local variables {saddr,daddr}.mac based on skb in llc_pdu_decode_sa()/llc_pdu_decode_da() and passes them to __llc_lookup(). However, the initialisation is done only when skb->protocol is htons(ETH_P_802_2), otherwise, __llc_lookup_established() and __llc_lookup_listener() will read garbage. The missing initialisation existed prior to commit |

llc: make llc_ui_sendmsg() more robust against bonding changes
syzbot was able to trick llc_ui_sendmsg(), allocating an skb with no
headroom, but subsequently trying to push 14 bytes of Ethernet header [1]
Like some others, llc_ui_sendmsg() releases the socket lock before
calling sock_alloc_send_skb().
Then it acquires it again, but does not redo all the sanity checks
that were performed.
This fix:
- Uses LL_RESERVED_SPACE() to reserve space.
- Check all conditions again after socket lock is held again.
- Do not account Ethernet header for mtu limitation.

vlan: skip nested type that is not IFLA_VLAN_QOS_MAPPING
In the vlan_changelink function, a loop is used to parse the nested
attributes IFLA_VLAN_EGRESS_QOS and IFLA_VLAN_INGRESS_QOS in order to
obtain the struct ifla_vlan_qos_mapping. These two nested attributes are
checked in the vlan_validate_qos_map function, which calls
nla_validate_nested_deprecated with the vlan_map_policy.
However, this deprecated validator applies a LIBERAL strictness, allowing
the presence of an attribute with the type IFLA_VLAN_QOS_UNSPEC.
Consequently, the loop in vlan_changelink may parse an attribute of type
IFLA_VLAN_QOS_UNSPEC and believe it carries a payload of
struct ifla_vlan_qos_mapping, which is not necessarily true.
To address this issue and ensure compatibility, this patch introduces two
type checks that skip attributes whose type is not IFLA_VLAN_QOS_MAPPING.

net/smc: fix illegal rmb_desc access in SMC-D connection dump
A crash was found when dumping SMC-D connections. It can be reproduced
by following steps:
- run nginx/wrk test:
smc_run nginx
smc_run wrk -t 16 -c 1000 -d <duration> -H 'Connection: Close' <URL>
- continuously dump SMC-D connections in parallel:

It is possible that the connection is in process of being established
when we dump it. Assumed that the connection has been registered in a
link group by smc_conn_create() but the rmb_desc has not yet been
initialized by smc_buf_create(), thus causing the illegal access to
conn->rmb_desc. So fix it by checking before dump.

Slightly larger than usual because this batch includes several patches to tighten the nf_tables control plane to reject inconsistent configuration: 1) Restrict NFTA_SET_POLICY to NFT_SET_POL_PERFORMANCE and NFT_SET_POL_MEMORY. 2) Bail out if a nf_tables expression registers more than 16 netlink attributes which is what struct nft_expr_info allows. 3) Bail out if NFT_EXPR_STATEFUL provides no .clone interface, remove existing fallback to memcpy() when cloning which might accidentally duplicate memory reference to the same object. 4) Fix br_netfilter interaction with neighbour layer. This requires three preparation patches: - Use nf_bridge_get_physinif() in nfnetlink_log - Use nf_bridge_info_exists() to check in br_netfilter context is available in nf_queue. - Pass net to nf_bridge_get_physindev() And finally, the fix which replaces physindev with physinif in nf_bridge_info. Patches from Pavel Tikhomirov. 5) Catch-all deactivation happens in the transaction, hence this oneliner to check for the next generation. This bug uncovered after the removal of the _BUSY bit, which happened in set elements back in summer 2023. 6) Ensure set (total) key length size and concat field length description is consistent, otherwise bail out. 7) Skip set element with the _DEAD flag on from the netlink dump path. A tests occasionally shows that dump is mismatching because GC might lose race to get rid of this element while a netlink dump is in progress. 8) Reject NFT_SET_CONCAT for field_count < 1. 9) Use IP6_INC_STATS in ipvs to fix preemption BUG splat, patch from Fedor Pchelkin. * tag 'nf-24-01-18' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/netfilter/nf: ipvs: avoid stat macros calls from preemptible context netfilter: nf_tables: reject NFT_SET_CONCAT with not field length description netfilter: nf_tables: skip dead set elements in netlink dump netfilter: nf_tables: do not allow mismatch field size and set key length netfilter: nf_tables: check if catch-all set element is active in next generation netfilter: bridge: replace physindev with physinif in nf_bridge_info netfilter: propagate net to nf_bridge_get_physindev netfilter: nf_queue: remove excess nf_bridge variable netfilter: nfnetlink_log: use proper helper for fetching physinif netfilter: nft_limit: do not ignore unsupported flags netfilter: nf_tables: bail out if stateful expression provides no .clone netfilter: nf_tables: validate .maxattr at expression registration netfilter: nf_tables: reject invalid set policy ==================== Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20240118161726.14838-1-pablo@netfilter.org Signed-off-by: Jakub Kicinski <kuba@kernel.org> |

ipv6: mcast: fix data-race in ipv6_mc_down / mld_ifc_work
idev->mc_ifc_count can be written over without proper locking.
Originally found by syzbot [1], fix this issue by encapsulating calls
to mld_ifc_stop_work() (and mld_gq_stop_work() for good measure) with
mutex_lock() and mutex_unlock() accordingly as these functions
should only be called with mc_lock per their declarations.

wifi: cfg80211: fix missing interfaces when dumping
The nl80211_dump_interface() supports resumption in case nl80211_send_iface() doesn't have the resources to complete its work. The logic would store the progress as iteration offsets for rdev and wdev loops. However the logic did not properly handle resumption for non-last rdev. Assuming a system with 2 rdevs, with 2 wdevs each, this could happen: dump(cb=[0, 0]): if_start=cb[1] (=0) send rdev0.wdev0 -> ok send rdev0.wdev1 -> yield cb[1] = 1 dump(cb=[0, 1]): if_start=cb[1] (=1) send rdev0.wdev1 -> ok // since if_start=1 the rdev0.wdev0 got skipped // through if_idx < if_start send rdev1.wdev1 -> ok The if_start needs to be reset back to 0 upon wdev loop end. The problem is actually hard to hit on a desktop, and even on most routers. The prerequisites for this manifesting was: - more than 1 wiphy - a few handful of interfaces - dump without rdev or wdev filter I was seeing this with 4 wiphys 9 interfaces each. It'd miss 6 interfaces from the last wiphy reported to userspace. netfilter: bridge: replace physindev with physinif in nf_bridge_info
An skb can be added to a neigh->arp_queue while waiting for an arp
reply. Where original skb's skb->dev can be different to neigh's
neigh->dev. For instance in case of bridging dnated skb from one veth to
another, the skb would be added to a neigh->arp_queue of the bridge.
As skb->dev can be reset back to nf_bridge->physindev and used, and as
there is no explicit mechanism that prevents this physindev from been
freed under us (for instance neigh_flush_dev doesn't cleanup skbs from
different device's neigh queue) we can crash on e.g. this stack:
arp_process
neigh_update
skb = __skb_dequeue(&neigh->arp_queue)
neigh_resolve_output(..., skb)
...
br_nf_dev_xmit
br_nf_pre_routing_finish_bridge_slow
skb->dev = nf_bridge->physindev
br_handle_frame_finish
Let's use plain ifindex instead of net_device link. To peek into the
original net_device we will use dev_get_by_index_rcu(). Thus either we
get device and are safe to use it or we don't get it and drop skb.

net: tls, fix WARNIING in __sk_msg_free
A splice with MSG_SPLICE_PAGES will cause tls code to use the
tls_sw_sendmsg_splice path in the TLS sendmsg code to move the user
provided pages from the msg into the msg_pl. This will loop over the
msg until msg_pl is full, checked by sk_msg_full(msg_pl). The user
can also set the MORE flag to hint stack to delay sending until receiving
more pages and ideally a full buffer.
If the user adds more pages to the msg than can fit in the msg_pl
scatterlist (MAX_MSG_FRAGS) we should ignore the MORE flag and send
the buffer anyways.
What actually happens though is we abort the msg to msg_pl scatterlist
setup and then because we forget to set 'full record' indicating we
can no longer consume data without a send we fallthrough to the 'continue'
path which will check if msg_data_left(msg) has more bytes to send and
then attempts to fit them in the already full msg_pl. Then next
iteration of sender doing send will encounter a full msg_pl and throw
the warning in the syzbot report.
To fix simply check if we have a full_record in splice code path and
if not send the msg regardless of MORE flag.

bpf: Avoid iter->offset making backward progress in bpf_iter_udp
There is a bug in the bpf_iter_udp_batch() function that stops
the userspace from making forward progress.
The case that triggers the bug is the userspace passed in
a very small read buffer. When the bpf prog does bpf_seq_printf,
the userspace read buffer is not enough to capture the whole bucket.
When the read buffer is not large enough, the kernel will remember
the offset of the bucket in iter->offset such that the next userspace
read() can continue from where it left off.
The kernel will skip the number (== "iter->offset") of sockets in
the next read(). However, the code directly decrements the
"--iter->offset". This is incorrect because the next read() may
not consume the whole bucket either and then the next-next read()
will start from offset 0. The net effect is the userspace will
keep reading from the beginning of a bucket and the process will
never finish. "iter->offset" must always go forward until the
whole bucket is consumed.
This patch fixes it by using a local variable "resume_offset"
and "resume_bucket". "iter->offset" is always reset to 0 before
it may be used. "iter->offset" will be advanced to the
"resume_offset" when it continues from the "resume_bucket" (i.e.
"state->bucket == resume_bucket"). This brings it closer to
the bpf_iter_tcp's offset handling which does not suffer
the same bug.

bpf: iter_udp: Retry with a larger batch size without going back to the previous bucket
The current logic is to use a default size 16 to batch the whole bucket.
If it is too small, it will retry with a larger batch size.
The current code accidentally does a state->bucket-- before retrying.
This goes back to retry with the previous bucket which has already
been done. This patch fixed it.
It is hard to create a selftest. I added a WARN_ON(state->bucket < 0),
forced a particular port to be hashed to the first bucket,
created >16 sockets, and observed the for-loop went back
to the "-1" bucket.

mptcp: mptcp_parse_option() fix for MPTCPOPT_MP_JOIN
mptcp_parse_option() currently sets OPTIONS_MPTCP_MPJ, for the three
possible cases handled for MPTCPOPT_MP_JOIN option.
OPTIONS_MPTCP_MPJ is the combination of three flags:
- OPTION_MPTCP_MPJ_SYN
- OPTION_MPTCP_MPJ_SYNACK
- OPTION_MPTCP_MPJ_ACK
This is a problem, because backup, join_id, token, nonce and/or hmac fields
could be left uninitialized in some cases.
Distinguish the three cases, as following patches will need this step.

rxrpc: Fix use of Don't Fragment flag
rxrpc normally has the Don't Fragment flag set on the UDP packets it
transmits, except when it has decided that DATA packets aren't getting
through - in which case it turns it off just for the DATA transmissions.
This can be a problem, however, for RESPONSE packets that convey
authentication and crypto data from the client to the server as ticket may
be larger than can fit in the MTU.
In such a case, rxrpc gets itself into an infinite loop as the sendmsg
returns an error (EMSGSIZE), which causes rxkad_send_response() to return
-EAGAIN - and the CHALLENGE packet is put back on the Rx queue to retry,
leading to the I/O thread endlessly attempting to perform the transmission.
Fix this by disabling DF on RESPONSE packets for now. The use of DF and
best data MTU determination needs reconsidering at some point in the
future.

net: dsa: fix netdev_priv() dereference before check on non-DSA netdevice events
After the blamed commit, we started doing this dereference for every
NETDEV_CHANGEUPPER and NETDEV_PRECHANGEUPPER event in the system.
static inline struct dsa_port *dsa_user_to_port(const struct net_device *dev)
{
struct dsa_user_priv *p = netdev_priv(dev);
return p->dp;
}
Which is obviously bogus, because not all net_devices have a netdev_priv()
of type struct dsa_user_priv. But struct dsa_user_priv is fairly small,
and p->dp means dereferencing 8 bytes starting with offset 16. Most
drivers allocate that much private memory anyway, making our access not
fault, and we discard the bogus data quickly afterwards, so this wasn't
caught.
But the dummy interface is somewhat special in that it calls
alloc_netdev() with a priv size of 0. So every netdev_priv() dereference
is invalid, and we get this when we emit a NETDEV_PRECHANGEUPPER event
with a VLAN as its new upper:
$ ip link add dummy1 type dummy
$ ip link add link dummy1 name dummy1.100 type vlan id 100

Networking changes for 6.8.
Core & protocols ---------------- - Analyze and reorganize core networking structs (socks, netdev, netns, mibs) to optimize cacheline consumption and set up build time warnings to safeguard against future header changes. This improves TCP performances with many concurrent connections up to 40%. - Add page-pool netlink-based introspection, exposing the memory usage and recycling stats. This helps indentify bad PP users and possible leaks. - Refine TCP/DCCP source port selection to no longer favor even source port at connect() time when IP_LOCAL_PORT_RANGE is set. This lowers the time taken by connect() for hosts having many active connections to the same destination. - Refactor the TCP bind conflict code, shrinking related socket structs. - Refactor TCP SYN-Cookie handling, as a preparation step to allow arbitrary SYN-Cookie processing via eBPF. - Tune optmem_max for 0-copy usage, increasing the default value to 128KB and namespecifying it. - Allow coalescing for cloned skbs coming from page pools, improving RX performances with some common configurations. - Reduce extension header parsing overhead at GRO time. - Add bridge MDB bulk deletion support, allowing user-space to request the deletion of matching entries. - Reorder nftables struct members, to keep data accessed by the datapath first. - Introduce TC block ports tracking and use. This allows supporting multicast-like behavior at the TC layer. - Remove UAPI support for retired TC qdiscs (dsmark, CBQ and ATM) and classifiers (RSVP and tcindex). - More data-race annotations. - Extend the diag interface to dump TCP bound-only sockets. - Conditional notification of events for TC qdisc class and actions. - Support for WPAN dynamic associations with nearby devices, to form a sub-network using a specific PAN ID. - Implement SMCv2.1 virtual ISM device support. - Add support for Batman-avd mulicast packet type. BPF --- - Tons of verifier improvements: - BPF register bounds logic and range support along with a large test suite - log improvements - complete precision tracking support for register spills - track aligned STACK_ZERO cases as imprecise spilled registers. It improves the verifier "instructions processed" metric from single digit to 50-60% for some programs - support for user's global BPF subprogram arguments with few commonly requested annotations for a better developer experience - support tracking of BPF_JNE which helps cases when the compiler transforms (unsigned) "a > 0" into "if a == 0 goto xxx" and the like - several fixes - Add initial TX metadata implementation for AF_XDP with support in mlx5 and stmmac drivers. Two types of offloads are supported right now, that is, TX timestamp and TX checksum offload. - Fix kCFI bugs in BPF all forms of indirect calls from BPF into kernel and from kernel into BPF work with CFI enabled. This allows BPF to work with CONFIG_FINEIBT=y. - Change BPF verifier logic to validate global subprograms lazily instead of unconditionally before the main program, so they can be guarded using BPF CO-RE techniques. - Support uid/gid options when mounting bpffs. - Add a new kfunc which acquires the associated cgroup of a task within a specific cgroup v1 hierarchy where the latter is identified by its id. - Extend verifier to allow bpf_refcount_acquire() of a map value field obtained via direct load which is a use-case needed in sched_ext. - Add BPF link_info support for uprobe multi link along with bpftool integration for the latter. - Support for VLAN tag in XDP hints. - Remove deprecated bpfilter kernel leftovers given the project is developed in user-space (https://github.com/facebook/bpfilter). Misc ---- - Support for parellel TC self-tests execution. - Increase MPTCP self-tests coverage. - Updated the bridge documentation, including several so-far undocumented features. - Convert all the net self-tests to run in unique netns, to avoid random failures due to conflict and allow concurrent runs. - Add TCP-AO self-tests. - Add kunit tests for both cfg80211 and mac80211. - Autogenerate Netlink families documentation from YAML spec. - Add yml-gen support for fixed headers and recursive nests, the tool can now generate user-space code for all genetlink families for which we have specs. - A bunch of additional module descriptions fixes. - Catch incorrect freeing of pages belonging to a page pool. Driver API ---------- - Rust abstractions for network PHY drivers; do not cover yet the full C API, but already allow implementing functional PHY drivers in rust. - Introduce queue and NAPI support in the netdev Netlink interface, allowing complete access to the device <> NAPIs <> queues relationship. - Introduce notifications filtering for devlink to allow control application scale to thousands of instances. - Improve PHY validation, requesting rate matching information for each ethtool link mode supported by both the PHY and host. - Add support for ethtool symmetric-xor RSS hash. - ACPI based Wifi band RFI (WBRF) mitigation feature for the AMD platform. - Expose pin fractional frequency offset value over new DPLL generic netlink attribute. - Convert older drivers to platform remove callback returning void. - Add support for PHY package MMD read/write. header cleanups for 6.8
The goal is to get sched.h down to a type only header, so the main thing happening in this patchset is splitting out various _types.h headers and dependency fixups, as well as moving some things out of sched.h to better locations. This is prep work for the memory allocation profiling patchset which adds new sched.h interdepencencies. keys, dns: Fix size check of V1 server-list header
Fix the size check added to dns_resolver_preparse() for the V1 server-list
header so that it doesn't give EINVAL if the size supplied is the same as
the size of the header struct (which should be valid).
This can be tested with:
echo -n -e '\0\0\01\xff\0\0' | keyctl padd dns_resolver desc @p
which will give "add_key: Invalid argument" without this fix.

NFSD 6.8 Release Notes
The bulk of the patches for this release are clean-ups and minor bug fixes. There is one significant revert to mention: support for RDMA Read operations in the server's RPC-over-RDMA transport implementation has been fixed so it waits for Read completion in a way that avoids tying up an nfsd thread. This prevents a possible DoS vector if an RPC-over-RDMA client should become unresponsive during RDMA Read operations. As always I am grateful to NFSD contributors, reviewers, and testers. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iQIzBAABCAAdFiEEKLLlsBKG3yQ88j7+M2qzM29mf5cFAmWdW34ACgkQM2qzM29m f5fKmw/+PcjoNDWR55kTmOo8j0h4HF8rhunvP2C50svnnsX63y1WKkLaxyAFN/Hl UFucJDQBjJvwi+PEbGOXcjkizuG5mhRBFvFIYDJYGWsE1s7B/v3E/Servvt1wSek UjoTjknYrqH6R3YfA8zBaWRJUXwvVQW3Bzo4mShrQK7He9/7nBHdUe0aWbAA9oW3 QgzKH/FzqCS03MvuxQv74KgBcl3diIrDaj041A3CtSnXzSKqwc3LaUAd5B4BL+oq GnxpV1rtZla50M4Ntddi+vSjUvHWZySQ1GEJj7rKLTwpGXkxM2NuMkGx676WR4Iv sYDX0fsica2elKbqJem8pk68qi6XEdZVAdoOHdgNJRClmYHby8xkrL/TYKiQZf42 IN9FogoVSZ+vSdI158Weim9+0Jqf+ffIh57ZtOyQQQAGZkdhB6GhcbdHJhQ9eOgB LAiAL7bsoWvDmBh5m9KnBmQYGpZoDUa6AT0bIvGD2O4/MdpHBkyT8Xwt+210nPOK mpBtxe5O8cUcg7A5/TwnVRg5jKp4CF8VWh2R8sGDhcYV8UfRthB38h4rHNhv4vxt l6ZUgmtTxrs1rCeh6aoiWTKXeQmI8meWlcet7cxw/axAsaTXkYPi5mslxF9f4O8u nQ8q7LuZQy2CKZO/t98STwx7s9OJcDOwcy51rnKK85TlCwnxFWg= =mIKg -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'nfsd-6.8' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/cel/linux Pull nfsd updates from Chuck Lever: "The bulk of the patches for this release are clean-ups and minor bug fixes. This could occasionally cause the rotation algorithm to drop straight through, give a 'successful' result without actually emitting any RPC calls, leaving the reply buffer in an undefined state. Instead, detach the probe results into a separate struct and allocate a new one each time we start probing and update the pointer to it. Probes are also sent in order of address preference to try and improve the chance that the preferred one will complete first. - Fix server rotation so that it uses configurable address preferences across on the probes that have completed so far than ranking them by RTT as the latter doesn't necessarily give the best route. The preference list can be altered by writing into /proc/net/afs/addr_prefs. - Fix the handling of Read-Only (and Backup) volume callbacks as there is one per volume, not one per file, so if someone performs a command that, say, offlines the volume but doesn't change it, when it comes back online we don't spam the server with a status fetch for every vnode we're using. Instead, check the Creation timestamp in the VolSync record when prompted by a callback break. - Handle volume regression (ie. a RW volume being restored from a backup) by scrubbing all cache data for that volume. This is detected from the VolSync creation timestamp. - Adjust abort handling and abort -> error mapping to match better with what other AFS clients do. - Fix offline and busy volume state handling as they only apply to individual server instances and not entire volumes and the rotation algorithm should go and look at other servers if available. Also make it sleep briefly before each retry if all the volume instances are unavailable" * tag 'afs-fix-rotation-20240105' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/dhowells/linux-fs: (40 commits) afs: trace: Log afs_make_call(), including server address afs: Fix offline and busy message emission afs: Fix fileserver rotation afs: Overhaul invalidation handling to better support RO volumes afs: Parse the VolSync record in the reply of a number of RPC ops afs: Don't leave DONTUSE/NEWREPSITE servers out of server list afs: Fix comment in afs_do_lookup() afs: Apply server breaks to mmap'd files in the call processor afs: Move the vnode/volume validity checking code into its own file afs: Defer volume record destruction to a workqueue afs: Make it possible to find the volumes that are using a server afs: Combine the endpoint state bools into a bitmask afs: Keep a record of the current fileserver endpoint state afs: Dispatch vlserver probes in priority order afs: Dispatch fileserver probes in priority order afs: Mark address lists with configured priorities afs: Provide a way to configure address priorities afs: Remove the unimplemented afs_cmp_addr_list() afs: Add some more info to /proc/net/afs/servers rxrpc: Create a procfile to display outstanding client conn bundles ... |

The first syscall simply lists the LSMs enabled, while the second and third get and set the current process' LSM attributes. Yes, these syscalls may provide similar functionality to what can be found under /proc or /sys, but they were designed to support multiple, simultaneaous (stacked) LSMs from the start as opposed to the current /proc based solutions which were created at a time when only one LSM was allowed to be active at a given time. We have spent considerable time discussing ways to extend the existing /proc interfaces to support multiple, simultaneaous LSMs and even our best ideas have been far too ugly to support as a kernel API; after +20 years in the kernel, I felt the LSM layer had established itself enough to justify a handful of syscalls. Support amongst the individual LSM developers has been nearly unanimous, with a single objection coming from Tetsuo (TOMOYO) as he is worried that the LSM_ID_XXX token concept will make it more difficult for out-of-tree LSMs to survive. Several members of the LSM community have demonstrated the ability for out-of-tree LSMs to continue to exist by picking high/unused LSM_ID values as well as pointing out that many kernel APIs rely on integer identifiers, e.g. syscalls (!), but unfortunately Tetsuo's objections remain. My personal opinion is that while I have no interest in penalizing out-of-tree LSMs, I'm not going to penalize in-tree development to support out-of-tree development, and I view this as a necessary step forward to support the push for expanded LSM stacking and reduce our reliance on /proc and /sys which has occassionally been problematic for some container users. Finally, we have included the linux-api folks on (all?) recent revisions of the patchset and addressed all of their concerns. - Add a new security_file_ioctl_compat() LSM hook to handle the 32-bit ioctls on 64-bit systems problem. This patch includes support for all of the existing LSMs which provide ioctl hooks, although it turns out only SELinux actually cares about the individual ioctls. It is worth noting that while Casey (Smack) and Tetsuo (TOMOYO) did not give explicit ACKs to this patch, they did both indicate they are okay with the changes. - Fix a potential memory leak in the CALIPSO code when IPv6 is disabled at boot. While it's good that we are fixing this, I doubt this is something users are seeing in the wild as you need to both disable IPv6 and then attempt to configure IPv6 labeled networking via NetLabel/CALIPSO; that just doesn't make much sense. Normally this would go through netdev, but Jakub asked me to take this patch and of all the trees I maintain, the LSM tree seemed like the best fit. - Update the LSM MAINTAINERS entry with additional information about our process docs, patchwork, bug reporting, etc. I also noticed that the Lockdown LSM is missing a dedicated MAINTAINERS entry so I've added that to the pull request. I've been working with one of the major Lockdown authors/contributors to see if they are willing to step up and assume a Lockdown maintainer role; hopefully that will happen soon, but in the meantime I'll continue to look after it. - Add a handful of mailmap entries for Serge Hallyn and myself. * tag 'lsm-pr-20240105' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/pcmoore/lsm: (27 commits) lsm: new security_file_ioctl_compat() hook lsm: Add a __counted_by() annotation to lsm_ctx.ctx calipso: fix memory leak in netlbl_calipso_add_pass() selftests: remove the LSM_ID_IMA check in lsm/lsm_list_modules_test MAINTAINERS: add an entry for the lockdown LSM MAINTAINERS: update the LSM entry mailmap: add entries for Serge Hallyn's dead accounts mailmap: update/replace my old email addresses lsm: mark the lsm_id variables are marked as static lsm: convert security_setselfattr() to use memdup_user() lsm: align based on pointer length in lsm_fill_user_ctx() lsm: consolidate buffer size handling into lsm_fill_user_ctx() lsm: correct error codes in security_getselfattr() lsm: cleanup the size counters in security_getselfattr() lsm: don't yet account for IMA in LSM_CONFIG_COUNT calculation lsm: drop LSM_ID_IMA LSM: selftests for Linux Security Module syscalls SELinux: Add selfattr hooks AppArmor: Add selfattr hooks Smack: implement setselfattr and getselfattr hooks ... |

SUNRPC: discard sv_refcnt, and svc_get/svc_put
sv_refcnt is no longer useful. lockd and nfs-cb only ever have the svc active when there are a non-zero number of threads, so sv_refcnt mirrors sv_nrthreads. nfsd also keeps the svc active between when a socket is added and when the first thread is started, but we don't really need a refcount for that. We can simply not destroy the svc while there are any permanent sockets attached. So remove sv_refcnt and the get/put functions. Instead of a final call to svc_put(), call svc_destroy() instead. This is changed to also store NULL in the passed-in pointer to make it easier to avoid use-after-free situations. svc: don't hold reference for poolstats, only mutex.
A future patch will remove refcounting on svc_serv as it is of little use. It is currently used to keep the svc around while the pool_stats file is open. Change this to get the pointer, protected by the mutex, only in seq_start, and the release the mutex in seq_stop. This means that if the nfsd server is stopped and restarted while the pool_stats file it open, then some pool stats info could be from the first instance and some from the second. This might appear odd, but is unlikely to be a problem in practice. SUNRPC: remove printk when back channel request not found
If the client interface is down, or there is a network partition between the client and server that prevents the callback request to reach the client, TCP on the server will keep re-transmitting the callback for about ~9 minutes before giving up and closing the connection. If the connection between the client and the server is re-established before the connection is closed and after the callback timed out (9 secs) then the re-transmitted callback request will arrive at the client. When the server receives the reply of the callback, receive_cb_reply prints the "Got unrecognized reply..." message in the system log since the callback request was already removed from the server xprt's recv_queue. Even though this scenario has no effect on the server operation, a malfunctioning or malicious client can fill up the server's system log.
