a9525c7f62 netfilter: xtables: allow xtables-nft only builds
Add hidden IP(6)_NF_IPTABLES_LEGACY symbol.

When any of the "old" builtin tables are enabled the "old" iptables
interface will be supported.

To disable the old set/getsockopt interface the existing options
for the builtin tables need to be turned off:

CONFIG_IP_NF_IPTABLES=m
CONFIG_IP_NF_FILTER is not set
CONFIG_IP_NF_NAT is not set
CONFIG_IP_NF_MANGLE is not set
CONFIG_IP_NF_RAW is not set
CONFIG_IP_NF_SECURITY is not set

Same for CONFIG_IP6_NF_ variants.

This allows to build a kernel that only supports ip(6)tables-nft
(iptables-over-nftables api).

In the future the _LEGACY symbol will become visible and the select
statements will be turned into 'depends on', but for now be on safe side
so "make oldconfig" won't break things.

4654467dc7 netfilter: arptables: allow xtables-nft only builds
Allows to build kernel that supports the arptables mangle target
via nftables' compat infra but without the arptables get/setsockopt
interface or the old arptables filter interpreter.

IOW, setting IP_NF_ARPFILTER=n will break arptables-legacy, but
arptables-nft will continue to work as long as nftables compat
support is enabled.

31bf508be6 netfilter: nf_tables: Implement table adoption support
Allow a new process to take ownership of a previously owned table,
useful mostly for firewall management services restarting or suspending
when idle.

By extending __NFT_TABLE_F_UPDATE, the on/off/on check in
nf_tables_updtable() also covers table adoption, although it is actually
not needed: Table adoption is irreversible because nf_tables_updtable()
rejects attempts to drop NFT_TABLE_F_OWNER so table->nlpid setting can
happen just once within the transaction.

If the transaction commences, table's nlpid and flags fields are already
set and no further action is required. If it aborts, the table returns
to orphaned state.

da5141bbe0 netfilter: nf_tables: Introduce NFT_TABLE_F_PERSIST
This companion flag to NFT_TABLE_F_OWNER requests the kernel to keep the
table around after the process has exited. It marks such table as
orphaned (by dropping OWNER flag but keeping PERSIST flag in place),
which opens it for other processes to manipulate. For the sake of
simplicity, PERSIST flag may not be altered though.

1ddfecafab ptp: add FemtoClock3 Wireless as ptp hardware clock
The RENESAS FemtoClock3 Wireless is a high-performance jitter attenuator,
frequency translator, and clock synthesizer. The device is comprised of 3
digital PLLs (DPLL) to track CLKIN inputs and three independent low phase
noise fractional output dividers (FOD) that output low phase noise clocks.

FemtoClock3 supports one Time Synchronization (Time Sync) channel to enable
an external processor to control the phase and frequency of the Time Sync
channel and to take phase measurements using the TDC. Intended applications
are synchronization using the precision time protocol (PTP) and
synchronization with 0.5 Hz and 1 Hz signals from GNSS.

ea1cc3ee34 ptp: introduce PTP_CLOCK_EXTOFF event for the measured external offset
This change is for the PHC devices that can measure the phase offset
between PHC signal and the external signal, such as the 1PPS signal of
GNSS. Reporting PTP_CLOCK_EXTOFF to user space will be piggy-backed to
the existing ptp_extts_event so that application such as ts2phc can
poll the external offset the same way as extts. Hence, ts2phc can use
the offset to achieve the alignment between PHC and the external signal
by the help of either SW or HW filters.

cf8e51ef51 Merge branch 'net-module-description'
Breno Leitao says:

====================
Fix MODULE_DESCRIPTION() for net (p3)

There are hundreds of network modules that misses MODULE_DESCRIPTION(),
causing a warning when compiling with W=1. Example:

WARNING: modpost: missing MODULE_DESCRIPTION() in drivers/net/arcnet/com90io.o
WARNING: modpost: missing MODULE_DESCRIPTION() in drivers/net/arcnet/arc-rimi.o
WARNING: modpost: missing MODULE_DESCRIPTION() in drivers/net/arcnet/com20020.o

This part3 of the patchset focus on the missing ethernet drivers, which
is now warning free. This also fixes net/pcs and ieee802154.

0efc7e541f taprio: validate TCA_TAPRIO_ATTR_FLAGS through policy instead of open-coding
As of now, the field TCA_TAPRIO_ATTR_FLAGS is being validated by manually
checking its value, using the function taprio_flags_valid().

With this patch, the field will be validated through the netlink policy
NLA_POLICY_MASK, where the mask is defined by TAPRIO_SUPPORTED_FLAGS.
The mutual exclusivity of the two flags TCA_TAPRIO_ATTR_FLAG_FULL_OFFLOAD
and TCA_TAPRIO_ATTR_FLAG_TXTIME_ASSIST is still checked manually.

Changes since RFC:
- fixed reversed xmas tree
- use NL_SET_ERR_MSG_MOD() for both invalid configuration

Changes since v1:
- Changed NL_SET_ERR_MSG_MOD to NL_SET_ERR_MSG_ATTR when wrong flags
  issued
- Changed __u32 to u32

Changes since v2:
- Added the missing parameter for NL_SET_ERR_MSG_ATTR (sorry again for

577e4432f3 tcp: add sanity checks to rx zerocopy
TCP rx zerocopy intent is to map pages initially allocated
from NIC drivers, not pages owned by a fs.

This patch adds to can_map_frag() these additional checks:

- Page must not be a compound one.
- page->mapping must be NULL.

This fixes the panic reported by ZhangPeng.

syzbot was able to loopback packets built with sendfile(),
mapping pages owned by an ext4 file to TCP rx zerocopy.

bfb007aebe nfc: nci: free rx_data_reassembly skb on NCI device cleanup
rx_data_reassembly skb is stored during NCI data exchange for processing
fragmented packets. It is dropped only when the last fragment is processed
or when an NTF packet with NCI_OP_RF_DEACTIVATE_NTF opcode is received.
However, the NCI device may be deallocated before that which leads to skb
leak.

As by design the rx_data_reassembly skb is bound to the NCI device and
nothing prevents the device to be freed before the skb is processed in
some way and cleaned, free it on the NCI device cleanup.

 - fix for REQ_OP_FLUSH usage; this fixes filesystems going read only
with -EOPNOTSUPP from the block layer.

(this really should have gone in with the block layer patch causing
the -EOPNOTSUPP, or should have gone in before).

 - fix an allocation in non-sleepable context

 - fix one source of srcu lock latency, on devices with terrible discard
   latency

 - fix a reattach_inode() issue in fsck

397586506c modpost: Add '.ltext' and '.ltext.*' to TEXT_SECTIONS
After the linked LLVM change, building ARCH=um defconfig results in a
segmentation fault in modpost. Prior to commit a23e7584ecf3 ("modpost:
unify 'sym' and 'to' in default_mismatch_handler()"), there was a
warning:

WARNING: modpost: vmlinux.o(__ex_table+0x88): Section mismatch in reference to the .ltext:(unknown)
WARNING: modpost: The relocation at __ex_table+0x88 references
section ".ltext" which is not in the list of
authorized sections. If you're adding a new section
and/or if this reference is valid, add ".ltext" to the
list of authorized sections to jump to on fault.
This can be achieved by adding ".ltext" to
  OTHER_TEXT_SECTIONS in scripts/mod/modpost.c.

The linked LLVM change moves global objects to the '.ltext' (and
'.ltext.*' with '-ffunction-sections') sections with '-mcmodel=large',
which ARCH=um uses. These sections should be handled just as '.text'
and '.text.*' are, so add them to TEXT_SECTIONS.

846cfbeed0 um: Fix adding '-no-pie' for clang
The kernel builds with -fno-PIE, so commit 883354afbc10 ("um: link
vmlinux with -no-pie") added the compiler linker flag '-no-pie' via
cc-option because '-no-pie' was only supported in GCC 6.1.0 and newer.

While this works for GCC, this does not work for clang because cc-option
uses '-c', which stops the pipeline right before linking, so '-no-pie'
is unconsumed and clang warns, causing cc-option to fail just as it
would if the option was entirely unsupported:

  $ clang -Werror -no-pie -c -o /dev/null -x c /dev/null
clang-16: error: argument unused during compilation: '-no-pie' [-Werror,-Wunused-command-line-argument]

A recent version of clang exposes this because it generates a relocation
under '-mcmodel=large' that is not supported in PIE mode:

/usr/sbin/ld: init/main.o: relocation R_X86_64_32 against symbol `saved_command_line' can not be used when making a PIE object; recompile with -fPIE
/usr/sbin/ld: failed to set dynamic section sizes: bad value
clang: error: linker command failed with exit code 1 (use -v to see invocation)

Remove the cc-option check altogether. It is wasteful to invoke the
compiler to check for '-no-pie' because only one supported compiler
version does not support it, GCC 5.x (as it is supported with the
minimum version of clang and GCC 6.1.0+). Use a combination of the
gcc-min-version macro and CONFIG_CC_IS_CLANG to unconditionally add
'-no-pie' with CONFIG_LD_SCRIPT_DYN=y, so that it is enabled with all
compilers that support this. Furthermore, using gcc-min-version can help
turn this back into

  LINK-$(CONFIG_LD_SCRIPT_DYN) += -no-pie

when the minimum version of GCC is bumped past 6.1.0.
