On 68030/020, an instruction such as, moveml %a2-%a3/%a5,%sp@- may cause
a stack page fault during instruction execution (i.e. not at an
instruction boundary) and produce a format 0xB exception frame.
In this situation, the value of USP will be unreliable. If a signal is
to be delivered following the exception, this USP value is used to
calculate the location for a signal frame. This can result in a
corrupted user stack.
The corruption was detected in dash (actually in glibc) where it showed
up as an intermittent "stack smashing detected" message and crash
following signal delivery for SIGCHLD.
It was hard to reproduce that failure because delivery of the signal
raced with the page fault and because the kernel places an unpredictable
gap of up to 7 bytes between the USP and the signal frame.
A format 0xB exception frame can be produced by a bus error or an
address error. The 68030 Users Manual says that address errors occur
immediately upon detection during instruction prefetch. The instruction
pipeline allows prefetch to overlap with other instructions, which means
an address error can arise during the execution of a different
instruction. So it seems likely that this patch may help in the address
error case also.

__get_kernel_nofault() does copy data in supervisor mode when
forcing a task backtrace log through /proc/sysrq_trigger.
This is expected cause a bus error exception on e.g. NULL
pointer dereferencing when logging a kernel task has no
workqueue associated. This bus error ought to be ignored.
Our 030 bus error handler is ill equipped to deal with this:
Whenever ssw indicates a kernel mode access on a data fault,
we don't even attempt to handle the fault and instead always
send a SEGV signal (or panic). As a result, the check
for exception handling at the fault PC (buried in
send_sig_fault() which gets called from do_page_fault()
eventually) is never used.
In contrast, both 040 and 060 access error handlers do not
care whether a fault happened on supervisor mode access,
and will call do_page_fault() on those, ultimately honoring
the exception table.
Add a check in bus_error030 to call do_page_fault() in case
we do have an entry for the fault PC in our exception table.
I had attempted a fix for this earlier in 2019 that did rely
on testing pagefault_disabled() (see link below) to achieve
the same thing, but this patch should be more generic.
Tested on 030 Atari Falcon.

Check return code of syscall_trace_enter(), and skip syscall
if -1. Return code will be left at what had been set by
ptrace or seccomp (in regs->d0).
No regression seen in testing with strace on ARAnyM.

There are two big uses of do_exit. The first is it's design use to be
the guts of the exit(2) system call. The second use is to terminate
a task after something catastrophic has happened like a NULL pointer
in kernel code.
Add a function make_task_dead that is initialy exactly the same as
do_exit to cover the cases where do_exit is called to handle
catastrophic failure. In time this can probably be reduced to just a
light wrapper around do_task_dead. For now keep it exactly the same so
that there will be no behavioral differences introducing this new
concept.
Replace all of the uses of do_exit that use it for catastraphic
task cleanup with make_task_dead to make it clear what the code
is doing.
As part of this rename rewind_stack_do_exit
rewind_stack_and_make_dead.

In the event that random_get_entropy() can't access a cycle counter or
similar, falling back to returning 0 is really not the best we can do.
Instead, at least calling random_get_entropy_fallback() would be
preferable, because that always needs to return _something_, even
falling back to jiffies eventually. It's not as though
random_get_entropy_fallback() is super high precision or guaranteed to
be entropic, but basically anything that's not zero all the time is
better than returning zero all the time.

When configuring a nommu classic m68k system enabling the uboot parameter
passing support (CONFIG_UBOOT) will produce the following compile error:
m68k-linux-ld: arch/m68k/kernel/uboot.o: in function `process_uboot_commandline':
uboot.c:(.init.text+0x32): undefined reference to `_init_sp'
The logic to support this option is only used on ColdFire based platforms
(in its head.S startup code). So make the selection of this option
depend on building for a ColdFire based platform.

The non-MMU m68k pagetable ZERO_PAGE() macro is being set to the
somewhat non-sensical value of "virt_to_page(0)". The zeroth page
is not in any way guaranteed to be a page full of "0". So the result
is that ZERO_PAGE() will almost certainly contain random values.
We already allocate a real "empty_zero_page" in the mm setup code shared
between MMU m68k and non-MMU m68k. It is just not hooked up to the
ZERO_PAGE() macro for the non-MMU m68k case.
Fix ZERO_PAGE() to use the allocated "empty_zero_page" pointer.
I am not aware of any specific issues caused by the old code.

The math emulation support code is intended for 68020 and higher, and
uses several instructions or instruction modes not available on coldfire
or 68000.
Originally, the dependency of M68KFPU_EMU on MMU was fine, as MMU
support was only available on 68020 or higher. But this assumption
was broken by the introduction of MMU support for M547x and M548x.
Drop the dependency on MMU, as the code should work fine on 68020 and up
without MMU (which are not yet supported by Linux, though).
Add dependencies on M68KCLASSIC (to rule out Coldfire) and FPU (kernel
has some type of floating-point support --- be it hardware or software
emulated, to rule out anything below 68020).

'make randconfig' can produce a .config file with
"CONFIG_MEMORY_RESERVE=" (no value) since it has no default.
When a subsequent 'make all' is done, kconfig restarts the config
and prompts for a value for MEMORY_RESERVE. This breaks
scripting/automation where there is no interactive user input.
Add a default value for MEMORY_RESERVE. (Any integer value will
work here for kconfig.)

When we have several pending signals, have entered with the kernel
with large exception frame *and* have already built at least one
sigframe, regs->stkadj is going to be non-zero and regs->format/sr/pc
are going to be junk - the real values are in shifted exception stack
frame we'd built when putting together the first sigframe.
If that happens, subsequent sigframes are going to be garbage.
Not hard to fix - just need to find the "adjusted" frame first
and look for format/vector/sr/pc in it.

On m68k, io functions are defined as macros. The problem is seen if the

When the option is RTC_PLL_GET, pll will be copied to userland
via copy_to_user. pll is initialized using mach_get_rtc_pll indirect
call and mach_get_rtc_pll is only assigned with function
q40_get_rtc_pll in arch/m68k/q40/config.c.
In function q40_get_rtc_pll, the field pll_ctrl is not initialized.
This will leak uninitialized stack content to userland.
Fix this by zeroing the uninitialized field.

The Cache Control Register (CACR) of the ColdFire V3 has bits that
control high level caching functions, and also enable/disable the use
of the alternate stack pointer register (the EUSP bit) to provide
separate supervisor and user stack pointer registers. The code as
it is today will blindly clear the EUSP bit on cache actions like
invalidation. So it is broken for this case - and that will result
in failed booting (interrupt entry and exit processing will be
completely hosed).
This only affects ColdFire V3 parts that support the alternate stack
register (like the 5329 for example) - generally speaking new parts do,
older parts don't. It has no impact on ColdFire V3 parts with the single
stack pointer, like the 5307 for example.
Fix the cache bit defines used, so they maintain the EUSP bit when
carrying out cache actions through the CACR register.

When writing values to the IOP status/control register make sure those
values do not have any extraneous bits that will clear interrupt flags.
To place the SCC IOP into bypass mode would be desirable but this is not
achieved by writing IOP_DMAINACTIVE | IOP_RUN | IOP_AUTOINC | IOP_BYPASS
to the control register. Drop this ineffective register write.
Remove the flawed and unused iop_bypass() function. Make use of the
unused iop_stop() function.

In the following sequence of calls, iop_do_send() gets called when the
"send" channel is not in the IOP_MSG_IDLE state:
iop_ism_irq()
iop_handle_send()
(msg->handler)()
iop_send_message()
iop_do_send()
Avoid this by testing the channel state before calling iop_do_send().
When sending, and iop_send_queue is empty, call iop_do_send() because
the channel is idle. If iop_send_queue is not empty, iop_do_send() will
get called later by iop_handle_send().

This kernel configuration is basically enabling/disabling sr driver quirks
detection. While these quirks are for fairly rare devices (very old CD
burners, and a glucometer), the additional detection of these models is a
very minimal amount of code.
The logic behind the quirks is always built into the sr driver.
This also removes the config from all the defconfig files that are enabling
this already.

After pulling 5.7.0 (linux-next merge), mcf5441x mmu boot was
hanging silently.
memblock_add() seems not appropriate, since using MAX_NUMNODES
as node id, while memblock_add_node() sets up memory for node id 0.

The m68k nommu setup code didn't register the beginning of the physical
memory with memblock because it was anyway occupied by the kernel. However,
commit fa3354e4ea39 ("mm: free_area_init: use maximal zone PFNs rather than
zone sizes") changed zones initialization to use memblock.memory to detect
the zone extents and this caused inconsistency between zone PFNs and the
actual PFNs:

Some platforms execute their timer handler with the interrupt priority
level set below 6. That means the handler could be interrupted by another
driver and this could lead to re-entry of the timer core.
Avoid this by use of local_irq_save/restore for timer interrupt dispatch.
This provides mutual exclusion around the timer interrupt flag access
which is needed later in this series for the clocksource conversion.

This resolves some bugs that affect VIA timer counter accesses.
Avoid lost interrupts caused by reading the counter low byte register.

Since commit d3b41b6bb49e ("m68k: Dispatch nvram_ops calls to Atari or
Mac functions"), Coldfire builds generate compiler warnings due to the
unconditional inclusion of asm/atarihw.h and asm/macintosh.h.

This issue is resolved by dropping the asm/raw_io.h include. It turns out
that asm/io_mm.h already includes that header file.
Moving the relevant macro definitions helps to clarify this dependency
and make it safe to include asm/atarihw.h.

This patch fixes a build failure when using GCC 8.1:
/usr/bin/ld: block/partitions/ldm.o: in function `ldm_parse_tocblock':
block/partitions/ldm.c:153: undefined reference to `strcmp'
This is caused by a new optimization which effectively replaces a
strncmp() call with a strcmp() call. This affects a number of strncmp()
call sites in the kernel.
The entire class of optimizations is avoided with -fno-builtin, which
gets enabled by -ffreestanding. This may avoid possible future build
failures in case new optimizations appear in future compilers.
I haven't done any performance measurements with this patch but I did
count the function calls in a defconfig build. For example, there are now
23 more sprintf() calls and 39 fewer strcpy() calls. The effect on the
other libc functions is smaller.
If this harms performance we can tackle that regression by optimizing
the call sites, ideally using semantic patches. That way, clang and ICC
builds might benfit too.

Disabling lock debugging due to kernel taint
Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill the idle task!
As the kernel must run in the memory chunk with the lowest address,
ST-RAM is ignored, and removed from the m68k_memory[] array.
However, it is not removed from memblock, causing a crash later.
More investigation shows that there are 3 places where memory chunks are
ignored, all after the calls to memblock_add() in m68k_parse_bootinfo(),
and thus causing crashes:
1. On classic m68k CPUs with a MMU, paging_init() ignores all memory
chunks below the first chunk, cfr. above,
2. On Amigas equipped with a Zorro III bus, config_amiga() ignores all
Zorro II memory,
3. If CONFIG_SINGLE_MEMORY_CHUNK=y, m68k_parse_bootinfo() ignores all
but the first memory chunk.
Fix this by moving the calls to memblock_add() from
m68k_parse_bootinfo() to paging_init(), after all ignored memory chunks
have been removed from m68k_memory[].

Change the currently empty defines for __PAGETABLE_PMD_FOLDED,
__PAGETABLE_PUD_FOLDED and __PAGETABLE_P4D_FOLDED to return 1.
This makes it possible to use __is_defined() to test if the
preprocessor define exists.

These are unused, undesired, and have never actually been used by
anybody. The original authors of this code have changed their mind about
its inclusion. While originally proposed for disk encryption on low-end
devices, the idea was discarded [1] in favor of something else before
that could really get going. Therefore, this patch removes Speck.

Commit a0f97e06a43c ("kbuild: enable 'make CFLAGS=...' to add
additional options to CC") renamed CFLAGS to KBUILD_CFLAGS.
Commit 222d394d30e7 ("kbuild: enable 'make AFLAGS=...' to add
additional options to AS") renamed AFLAGS to KBUILD_AFLAGS.
Commit 06c5040cdb13 ("kbuild: enable 'make CPPFLAGS=...' to add
additional options to CPP") renamed CPPFLAGS to KBUILD_CPPFLAGS.
For some reason, LDFLAGS was not renamed.
Using a well-known variable like LDFLAGS may result in accidental
override of the variable.
Kbuild generally uses KBUILD_ prefixed variables for the internally
appended options, so here is one more conversion to sanitize the
naming convention.
I did not touch Makefiles under tools/ since the tools build system
is a different world.

Use new return type vm_fault_t for fault handler. For now, this is just
documenting that the function returns a VM_FAULT value rather than an
errno. Once all instances are converted, vm_fault_t will become a
distinct type.

Move the source of lib/Kconfig.debug and arch/$(ARCH)/Kconfig.debug to
the top-level Kconfig. For two architectures that means moving their
arch-specific symbols in that menu into a new arch Kconfig.debug file,
and for a few more creating a dummy file so that we can include it
unconditionally.
Also move the actual 'Kernel hacking' menu to lib/Kconfig.debug, where
it belongs.

Instead of duplicating the source statements in every architecture just
do it once in the toplevel Kconfig file.
Note that with this the inclusion of arch/$(SRCARCH/Kconfig moves out of
the top-level Kconfig into arch/Kconfig so that don't violate ordering
constraits while keeping a sensible menu structure.

Don't load the via-pmu68k driver on early PowerBooks. The M50753 PMU
device found in those models was never supported by this driver.
Attempting to load the driver usually causes a boot hang.

Coldfire still provides its own variant of the clk API rather than using
the generic COMMON_CLK API. This generally works, but it causes some
link errors with drivers using the clk_round_rate(), clk_set_rate(),
clk_set_parent(), or clk_get_parent() functions when a platform lacks
those interfaces.
This adds empty stub implementations for each of them, and I don't even
try to do something useful here but instead just print a WARN() message
to make it obvious what is going on if they ever end up being called.
The drivers that call these won't be used on these platforms (otherwise
we'd get a link error today), so the added code is harmless bloat and
will warn about accidental use.

In m68k the physical memory is described by [memory_start, memory_end] for
!MMU variant and by m68k_memory array of memory ranges for the MMU version.
This information is directly use to register the physical memory with
memblock.
The reserve_bootmem() calls are replaced with memblock_reserve() and the
bootmap bitmap allocation is simply dropped.
Since the MMU variant creates early mappings only for the small part of the
memory we force bottom-up allocations in memblock.
