d74928fed3 Clarify documentation of virConnectBaselineHypervisorCPU
The API was apparently never considered for being used on a host that is
not represented in the input set of CPU definitions. The result is
limited to the set of features and CPU models known to the host's
hypervisor. This would likely not be a big issue, but thanks to a side
effect of commit v3.8.0-99-g9c9620af1d usability blockers come to play
as well. When converting CPU data (CPUID and MSR bits) to each named
model for comparison, we disable features that block usability of the
model on the current hypervisor, the rest of the features are set
according to the data without taking host capabilities into account.
Thus the process of comparing and selecting the most appropriate CPU
model for the given data is significantly influenced by the host, but it
doesn't behave as if the host CPU model was included in the input data.

The documentation tried to say the result was tied to the host's
hypervisor, but it wasn't very clear.

05c9f3752d virsh: Introduce 'await' command for waiting until target domain state is reached
The new command is meant as syntax sugar for event handling which blocks
virsh until the requested state condition is reached.

The initial implementation adds a condition 'domain-inactive' returning
if the domain is/becomes inactive for whatever reason.

This command is useful for simple scripts e.g. for debugging libvirt
when it allows responding to target state in shell without the need to
fuss too much with polling or writing handlers around 'virsh event'.

cf24dc8baa docs: Note that zero detection on migration sparsifies image only when discard='unmap' is set
The mirroring job clears the destination to ensure that the guest
visible disk contents are identical to the state on the source. The
image itself is kept sparse only when the disk 'discard' option is set
to 'unmap' (Also the disks would eventually desparsify itself anyways
with disabled discards). Note it in the docs for the user.

27020d20ee admin: add 'daemon-shutdown' command
The daemons are wired up to shutdown in responsible to UNIX process
signals, as well as in response to login1 dbus signals, or loss of
desktop session. The latter two options can optionally preserve state
(ie running VMs).

In non-systemd environments, as well as for testing, it would be useful
to have a way to trigger shutdown with state preservation more directly.

Thus a new admin protocol API is introduced

  virAdmConnectDaemonShutdown

which will trigger a daemon shutdown, and preserve running VMs if the
VIR_DAEMON_SHUTDOWN_PRESERVE flag is set.

It has a corresponding 'virt-admin daemon-shutdown [--preserve]' command
binding.

5872ab7fe9 manpage: virsh: Add warning about 'migrate' with '--persistent' together with '--xml'
When a VM is being migrated to a destination host it can be made
persistent on the destination by using '--persistent'. That may not
work as intended if '--xml' is used as well as that allows overriding
certain aspects of the VM xml, but does not involve the persistent
definition. In most cases users will need to supply also
'--persistent-xml' with the same set of modification.

332ee4931a docs: Add warning about using a cleared image with VIR_MIGRATE_PARAM_MIGRATE_DISKS_DETECT_ZEROES_ZEROES
The migration parameter causes zero detection to be enabled and zero
blocks are *not* transferred to the destination. This means that users
must provide pre-cleared images that read all zero, otherwise the
non-zero blocks on destination which reside in places where the source

As not transferring and overwriting the zero blocks is what the feature
is supposed to do the users need to provide the proper environment.

a39dd25715 Extend libvirt-guests to shutdown only persistent VMs
At the moment, there is no configuration option for the libvirt-guests
service that allows users to define that only persistent virtual machines
should be shutdown on host shutdown.

Currently, the service config allows to choose between two ON_SHUTDOWN
actions that are executed on running virtual machines when the host goes
down: shutdown, suspend.
The ON_SHUTDOWN action should be orthogonal to the type of the virtual
machine. However, the existing implementation, does not suspend
transient virtual machines.
This is the matrix of actions that is executed on virtual machines based
on the configured ON_SHUTDOWN action and the type of a virtual machine.

         | persistent | transient
shutdown | shutdown | shutdown (what we want to change)
suspend | suspend | nothing

Add config option PERSISTENT_ONLY to libvirt-guests config that allows
users to define if the ON_SHUTDOWN action should be applied only on
persistent virtual machines. PERSISTENT_ONLY can be set to true, false,
default. The default option will implement the already existing logic.

Case 1: PERSISTENT_ONLY=default
         | persistent | transient
shutdown | shutdown | shutdown
suspend | suspend | nothing

Case 2: PERSISTENT_ONLY=true
         | persistent | transient

suspend | suspend | nothing

04adeac76e virDomainBlockResize: Introduce VIR_DOMAIN_BLOCK_RESIZE_CAPACITY
Allow users to easily resize 'raw' images on block devices to the full
capacity of the block device. Obviously this won't work on file-backed
storage (filling the remaining capacity is most likely wrong) or for
formats with metadata due to the overhead.

49e3e7f9e8 virsh: add console --resume support
This patch adds the command line flag `--resume` to the `virsh console`
command. This resumes a paused guest after connecting to the console.
This might be handy since it's a "common" pattern to start a guest
paused, connect to the console, and then resume it so as not to miss any
console messages.
