b52a109ad3 gpt-generator: use /efi as mount point for the ESP if it exists
Let's make the EFI generator a bit smarter: if /efi exists it is used as mount
point for the ESP, otherwise /boot is used. This should increase compatibility
with distros which use legacy boot loaders that insist on having /boot as
something that isn't the ESP.

00f69504a2 bootctl: Always use upper case for "/EFI/BOOT" and "/EFI/BOOT/BOOT*.EFI".
If the ESP is not mounted with "iocharset=ascii", but with "iocharset=utf8"
(which is for example the default in Debian), the file system becomes case
sensitive. This means that a file created as "FooBarBaz" cannot be accessed as
"foobarbaz" since those are then considered different files.

Moreover, a file created as "FooBar" can then also not be accessed as "foobar",
and it also prevents such a file from being created, as both would use the same
8.3 short name "FOOBAR".

Even though the UEFI specification [0] does give the canonical spelling for
the files mentioned above, not all implementations completely conform to that,
so it's possible that those files would already exist, but with a different
spelling, causing subtle bugs when scanning or modifying the ESP.

While the proper fix would of course be that everybody conformed to the
standard, we can work around this problem by just referencing the files by
their 8.3 short names, i.e. using upper case.

Fixes: #3740

* Specifying a device node has an effect much larger than a simple shortcut

Despite the name, `Read{Write,Only}Directories=` already allows for

This patch introduces `/run/systemd/inaccessible/{reg,dir,chr,blk,fifo,sock}`
{dile, device}nodes and mounts on the appropriate one the paths specified
in `InacessibleDirectories=`.

1f9ac68b5b core: improve seccomp syscall grouping a bit
This adds three new seccomp syscall groups: @keyring for kernel keyring access,
@cpu-emulation for CPU emulation features, for exampe vm86() for dosemu and
suchlike, and @debug for ptrace() and related calls.

Also, the @clock group is updated with more syscalls that alter the system
clock. capset() is added to @privileged, and pciconfig_iobase() is added to
@raw-io.

Finally, @obsolete is a cleaned up. A number of syscalls that never existed on
Linux and have no number assigned on any architecture are removed, as they only
exist in the man pages and other operating sytems, but not in code at all.
create_module() is moved from @module to @obsolete, as it is an obsolete system
call. mem_getpolicy() is removed from the @obsolete list, as it is not
obsolete, but simply a NUMA API.

9c1e04d0fa nspawn: introduce --notify-ready=[no|yes] (#3474)
This the patch implements a notificaiton mechanism from the init process
in the container to systemd-nspawn.
The switch --notify-ready=yes configures systemd-nspawn to wait the "READY=1"
message from the init process in the container to send its own to systemd.
--notify-ready=no is equivalent to the previous behavior before this patch,
systemd-nspawn notifies systemd with a "READY=1" message when the container is
created. This notificaiton mechanism uses socket file with path relative to the contanier
"/run/systemd/nspawn/notify". The default values it --notify-ready=no.
It is also possible to configure this mechanism from the .nspawn files using
NotifyReady. This parameter takes the same options of the command line switch.

Before this patch, systemd-nspawn notifies "ready" after the inner child was created,
regardless the status of the service running inside it. Now, with --notify-ready=yes,
systemd-nspawn notifies when the service is ready. This is really useful when
there are dependencies between different contaniers.

Fixes https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/1369
Based on the work from https://github.com/systemd/systemd/pull/3022

Testing:
Boot a OS inside a container with systemd-nspawn.
Note: modify the commands accordingly with your filesystem.

1. Create a filesystem where you can boot an OS.
2. sudo systemd-nspawn -D ${HOME}/distros/fedora-23/ sh
2.1. Create the unit file /etc/systemd/system/sleep.service inside the container
(You can use the example below)
2.2. systemdctl enable sleep
2.3 exit
3. sudo systemd-run --service-type=notify --unit=notify-test
   ${HOME}/systemd/systemd-nspawn --notify-ready=yes
   -D ${HOME}/distros/fedora-23/ -b
4. In a different shell run "systemctl status notify-test"

When using --notify-ready=yes the service status is "activating" for 20 seconds
before being set to "active (running)". Instead, using --notify-ready=no
the service status is marked "active (running)" quickly, without waiting for
the 20 seconds.

This patch was also test with --private-users=yes, you can test it just adding it
at the end of the command at point 3.

f921f5739e networkd: rename IPv6AcceptRouterAdvertisements to IPv6AcceptRA
The long name is just too hard to type. We generally should avoid using
acronyms too liberally, if they aren't established enough, but it appears that
"RA" is known well enough. Internally we call the option "ipv6_accept_ra"
anyway, and the kernel also exposes it under this name. Hence, let's rename the
IPv6AcceptRouterAdvertisements= setting and the
[IPv6AcceptRouterAdvertisements] section to IPv6AcceptRA= and [IPv6AcceptRA].

The old setting IPv6AcceptRouterAdvertisements= is kept for compatibility with
older configuration. (However the section [IPv6AcceptRouterAdvertisements] is
not, as it was never available in a published version of systemd.

1e7a0e21c9 network: beef up ipv6 RA support considerably
This reworks sd-ndisc and networkd substantially to support IPv6 RA much more
comprehensively. Since the API is extended quite a bit networkd has been ported
over too, and the patch is not as straight-forward as one could wish. The
rework includes:

- Support for DNSSL, RDNSS and RA routing options in sd-ndisc and networkd. Two
new configuration options have been added to networkd to make this
  configurable.

- sd-ndisc now exposes an sd_ndisc_router object that encapsulates a full RA
message, and has direct, friendly acessor functions for the singleton RA
properties, as well as an iterative interface to iterate through known and
unsupported options. The router object may either be retrieved from the wire,
or generated from raw data. In many ways the sd-ndisc API now matches the
sd-lldp API, except that no implicit database of seen data is kept. (Note
that sd-ndisc actually had a half-written, but unused implementaiton of such
a store, which is removed now.)

- sd-ndisc will now collect the reception timestamps of RA, which is useful to
make sd_ndisc_router fully descriptive of what it covers.

da4d897e75 core: add cgroup memory controller support on the unified hierarchy (#3315)
On the unified hierarchy, memory controller implements three control knobs -
low, high and max which enables more useable and versatile control over memory
usage. This patch implements support for the three control knobs.

* MemoryLow, MemoryHigh and MemoryMax are added for memory.low, memory.high and
  memory.max, respectively.

* As all absolute limits on the unified hierarchy use "max" for no limit, make
memory limit parse functions accept "max" in addition to "infinity" and
document "max" for the new knobs.

* Implement compatibility translation between MemoryMax and MemoryLimit.

v2:

- Fixed missing else's in config_parse_memory_limit().
- Fixed missing newline when writing out drop-ins.
- Coding style updates to use "val > 0" instead of "val".
- Minor updates to documentation.

538b48524c core: translate between IO and BlockIO settings to ease transition
Due to the substantial interface changes in cgroup unified hierarchy, new IO
settings are introduced. Currently, IO settings apply only to unified
hierarchy and BlockIO to legacy. While the transition is necessary, it's
painful for users to have to provide configs for both. This patch implements
translation from one config set to another for configs which make sense.

* The translation takes place during application of the configs. Users won't
see IO or BlockIO settings appearing without being explicitly created.

* The translation takes place only if there is no config for the matching
  cgroup hierarchy type at all.

While this doesn't provide comprehensive compatibility, it should considerably
ease transition to the new IO settings which are a superset of BlockIO
settings.

v2:

- Update test-cgroup-mask.c so that it accounts for the fact that
  CGROUP_MASK_IO and CGROUP_MASK_BLKIO move together. Also, test/parent.slice
now sets IOWeight instead of BlockIOWeight.

77ff6022fa networkd: Add EmitRouter= option for DHCP Server (#3251)
Add an option to disable appending DHCP option 3 (Router) to the DHCP
OFFER and ACK packets.
This commit adds the boolean option EmitRouter= for the [DHCPServer]
section in .network files.

Rationale: On embedded devices, it is very useful to have a DHCP server
running on an USB OTG ethernet gadget interface to avoid manual setup on
the client PCs, but it should only serve IP addresses, no route(r)s.
Otherwise, Windows clients experience network connectivity issues, due
to them using the address set in DHCP option 3 as default gateway.

13c31542cc core: add io controller support on the unified hierarchy
On the unified hierarchy, blkio controller is renamed to io and the interface
is changed significantly.

* blkio.weight and blkio.weight_device are consolidated into io.weight which
uses the standardized weight range [1, 10000] with 100 as the default value.

* blkio.throttle.{read|write}_{bps|iops}_device are consolidated into io.max.
Expansion of throttling features is being worked on to support
  work-conserving absolute limits (io.low and io.high).

* All stats are consolidated into io.stats.

This patchset adds support for the new interface. As the interface has been
revamped and new features are expected to be added, it seems best to treat it
as a separate controller rather than trying to expand the blkio settings
although we might add automatic translation if only blkio settings are
specified.

* io.weight handling is mostly identical to blkio.weight[_device] handling
except that the weight range is different.

* Both read and write bandwidth settings are consolidated into
CGroupIODeviceLimit which describes all limits applicable to the device.
This makes it less painful to add new limits.

* "max" can be used to specify the maximum limit which is equivalent to no
config for max limits and treated as such. If a given CGroupIODeviceLimit
doesn't contain any non-default configs, the config struct is discarded once
the no limit config is applied to cgroup.

* lookup_blkio_device() is renamed to lookup_block_device().

072993504e core: move enforcement of the start limit into per-unit-type code again
Let's move the enforcement of the per-unit start limit from unit.c into the
type-specific files again. For unit types that know a concept of "result" codes
this allows us to hook up the start limit condition to it with an explicit
result code. Also, this makes sure that the state checks in clal like
service_start() may be done before the start limit is checked, as the start
limit really should be checked last, right before everything has been verified
to be in order.

The generic start limit logic is left in unit.c, but the invocation of it is
moved into the per-type files, in the various xyz_start() functions, so that
they may place the check at the right location.

Note that this change drops the enforcement entirely from device, slice, target
and scope units, since these unit types generally may not fail activation, or
may only be activated a single time. This is also documented now.

Note that restores the "start-limit-hit" result code that existed before
6bf0f408e4 already in the service code. However,
it's not introduced for all units that have a result code concept.

8b26cdbd2a core: introduce activation rate limiting for socket units
This adds two new settings TriggerLimitIntervalSec= and TriggerLimitBurst= that
define a rate limit for activation of socket units. When the limit is hit, the
socket is is put into a failure mode. This is an alternative fix for #2467,
since the original fix resulted in issue #2684.

In a later commit the StartLimitInterval=/StartLimitBurst= rate limiter will be
changed to be applied after any start conditions checks are made. This way,
there are two separate rate limiters enforced: one at triggering time, before
any jobs are queued with this patch, as well as the start limit that is moved
again to be run immediately before the unit is activated. Condition checks are
done in between the two, and thus no longer affect the start limit.

* sd-journal: detect earlier if we try to read an object from an invalid offset

Specifically, detect early if we try to read from offset 0, i.e. are using
uninitialized offset data.

* journal: when dumping journal contents, react nicer to lines we can't read

If journal files are not cleanly closed it might happen that intermediaery
journal entries cannot be read. Handle this nicely, skip over the unreadable
entries, and log a debug message about it; after all we generally follow the
logic that we try to make the best of corrupted files.

* journal-file: always generate the same error when encountering corrupted files

Let's make sure EBADMSG is the one error we throw when we encounter corrupted
data, so that we can neatly test for it.

* journal-file: when iterating through a partly corruped journal file, treat error like EOF

When we linearly iterate through a corrupted journal file, and we encounter a
read error, don't consider this fatal, but merely as EOF condition (and log
about it).

* journal-file: make seeking in corrupted files work

Previously, when we used a bisection table for seeking through a corrupted
file, and the end of the bisection table was corrupted we'd most likely fail
the entire seek operation. Improve the situation: if we encounter invalid
entries in a bisection table, linearly go backwards until we find a working
entry again.

39207373dd systemctl,pid1: do not warn about missing install info with "preset"
When "preset" was executed for a unit without install info, we'd warn similarly
as for "enable" and "disable". But "preset" is usually called for all units,
because the preset files are provided by the distribution, and the units are under
control of individual programs, and it's reasonable to call "preset" for all units
rather then try to do it only for the ones that can be installed.
We also don't warn about missing info for "preset-all". Thus it seems reasonable
to silently ignore units w/o install info when presetting.

(In addition, when more than one unit was specified, we'd issue the warning
only if none of them had install info. But this is probably something to fix
for enable/disable too.)

921f831d3e logind: make KillOnlyUsers override KillUserProcesses
Instead of KillOnlyUsers being a filter for KillUserProcesses, it can now be
used to specify users to kill, independently of the KillUserProcesses
setting. Having the settings orthogonal seems to make more sense. It also
makes KillOnlyUsers symmetrical to KillExcludeUsers.

97e5530cf2 logind: flip KillUserProcesses to on by default
This ensures that users sessions are properly cleaned up after.
The admin can still enable or disable linger for specific users to allow
them to run processes after they log out. Doing that through the user
session is much cleaner and provides better control.

dbus daemon can now be run in the user session (with --enable-user-session,
added in 1.10.2), and most distributions opted to pick this configuration.
In the normal case it makes a lot of sense to kill remaining processes.
The exception is stuff like screen and tmux. But it's easy enough to
work around, a simple example was added to the man page in previous
commit. In the long run those services should integrate with the systemd
users session on their own.

439689c6ec networkd: bump MTU to 1280 for interfaces which have IPv6 enabled (#3077)
IPv6 protocol requires a minimum MTU of 1280 bytes on the interface.
This fixes #3046.

Introduce helper link_ipv6_enabled() to figure out whether IPV6 is enabled.
Introduce network_has_static_ipv6_addresses() to find out if any static
ipv6 address configured.
If IPv6 is not configured on any interface that is SLAAC, DHCPv6 and static
IPv6 addresses not configured, then IPv6 will be automatically disabled for that
interface, that is we write "1" to /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf//disable_ipv6.

- fix the example for /var/tmp/abrt. The 'x' line was redundant,

f6e1bd2c52 man: shorten the list of unit file paths a bit
Let's make this more digestable to read by making the list of documented unit
file paths a bit shorter.

Specifically, let's drop references to $XDG_CONFIG_HOME and $XDG_DATA_HOME, as
their default values are listed too already. Given that the fact that the XDG
basedir spec makes these paths configurable is probably not a strong point of
the spec, let's drop the reference to the env vars, and keep only the literal,
default paths for them in the list. Of course, we do support the full XDG
basedir spec in this regard, but it's one thing to implement it and another one
to recommend it by documenting it.

Replace "$HOME" by "~", because UNIX.

e01ff70a77 nspawn: always setup machine id
We check /etc/machine-id of the container and if it is already populated
we use value from there, possibly ignoring value of --uuid option from
the command line. When dealing with R/O image we setup transient machine
id.

Once we determined machine id of the container, we use this value for
registration with systemd-machined and we also export it via
container_uuid environment variable.

As registration with systemd-machined is done by the main nspawn process
we communicate container machine id established by setup_machine_id from
outer child to the main process by unix domain socket. Similarly to PID
of inner child.

63003524cb *.localdomain != localhost
".localdomain" is not a reserved suffix (or prefix). I'm not aware of any
product expecting *.localdomain to resolve to localhost, however I am aware of
at least one product that defaults to ".localdomain" as its DNS suffix provided
via DHCP (pfSense). This leads to unexpected results when attempting to access
a host that's offline (or a host that's online, when nsswitch.conf is
[mis-]configured to have myhostname ahead of DNS).

Operate on:
localhost (and localhost.)
*.localhost (and *.localhost.)
localhost.localdomain (and localhost.localdomain.)
*.localhost.localdomain (and *.localhost.localdomain.)

We should not cover:
*.localdomain (nor *.localdomain.)
localdomain (nor localdomain.)

The manpage of seccomp specify that using seccomp with
SECCOMP_SET_MODE_FILTER will return EACCES if the caller do not have
